11. Laser Doppler Flowmetry and Imaging: Methodological Studies
Abstract : Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) and laser Doppler imaging (LDI) are modern methods for non-invasive and continuous assessment of skin blood flow. The techniques are based on the phenomenon that monochromatic light transilluminating a perfused tissue is spectrally broadened owing to scattering by moving blood cells. READ MORE

12. CT with 3D-Image Reconstructions in Preoperative Planning
Abstract : Computed tomography is one of the most evolving fields of modern radiology. The current CT applications permit among other things angiography, 3D image reconstructions, material decomposition and tissue characterization. CT is an important tool in the assessment of specific patient populations prior to an invasive or surgical procedure. READ MORE

13. Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Techniques in Diabetes
Abstract : In order to further advance the field of diabetes research there is a great need for establishing validated non-invasive quantitative techniques to study the pancreas and other tissues of importance for blood glucose regulation. The general aim of this thesis was to explore magnetic resonance techniques and positron emission tomography as such tools. READ MORE

14. Core Biopsy of Breast and Axillary Lesions : Technical and Clinical Aspects
Abstract : The aims of this work were to image and analyze the needle behavior at automated core biopsy, to investigate the clinical utility of an alternative core biopsy technique using a semiautomated gun in breast and axillary lesions, and also to compare core biopsy with surgical specimens in malignant breast lesions regarding histologic features and hormone receptor expression. In two experimental studies, using butter and silicon phantoms, respectively, the needle pass was imaged and its dynamic behavior studied.
