  1. 1. Simulation supported training in oral radiology : methods and impact on interpretative skill

    Author : Tore Nilsson; Jan Ahlqvist; Martin Rydmark; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Virtual reality; simulation; simulator; radiology; radiography; learning; skill acquisition; visual-spatial ability; parallax; Radiology; Radiologi; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Simulation is an important tool when training is hazardous, time consuming, or expensive. Simulation can also be used to enhance reality by adding features normally not available in the real world. READ MORE

  2. 2. CT Urography : Efforts to Reduce the Radiation Dose

    Author : Pär Dahlman; Anders Magnusson; Anders Sundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urinary tract malignancy; renal cell carcinoma; urography; x-ray computed tomography; radiation dosage; dose escalation; hematuria diagnosis; Diagnostic radiology; Diagnostisk radiologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Computed tomography urography (CTU) is today the imaging method used to investigate patients with suspected urinary tract malignancy, replacing the old imaging method intravenous pyelography (IVP) about a decade ago. The downside of this shift was that the effective radiation dose to the examined patient was eight times higher for CTU compared to IVP. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantification of Arterial Wall with MRI and Image Processing

    Author : Mari Hänni; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; image processing; Magnetic resonance imaging; animal model; arterial wall; Radiologisk forskning; atherosclerosis; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning; Diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Quantification of atherosclerosis in vivo in animal models is of great importance when treatments against atherosclerosis are evaluated. In the studies presented in this thesis a non-invasive method combining MRI and image processing is evaluated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Imaging the tumor microenvironment : the dynamics and modification of hypoxia

    Author : Anna Ljungkvist; Peggy L. Olive; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; tumor microenvironment; double hypoxic marker method; proliferation; hypoxia; hypoxic half-life; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : The tumor vasculature is poor and heterogeneous which may result in inadequate oxygenation and changed energy status. In addition the balance between cell proliferation and the rate of cell death is disturbed, which results in tumor growth. READ MORE
