  1. 21. Tomosynthesis in pulmonary cystic fibrosis

    University dissertation from Diagnostic Radiology, (Lund)

    Author : Kristina Vult von Steyern; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cystic fibrosis; Lung; Radiation dose; Radiography; Scoring methods; Tomography; spiral computed; X-ray computed;

    Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate whether chest tomosynthesis might be used in pulmonary cystic fibrosis, to design and validate a tomosynthesis scoring system, and to determine the effective dose from chest tomosynthesis in children. In a prospective study starting in 2008 clinical chest radiography or computed tomography (CT) were supplemented with a tomosynthesis examination of the lungs. READ MORE

  2. 22. MRI Studies of the Fetal Brain and Cranium

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Department of Radiology

    Author : Nuno Canto Moreira; Uppsala universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fetal MRI; Brain; Cranium; Development; Normal; Ear; Lip; Palate; Biometry; Hippocampus; Measurements; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Ultrasound is the primary modality for fetal imaging, but Magnetic Resonance Imaging nowadays has a valuable complementary role as it often reveals findings that alter pregnancy management.Knowledge on some clinically relevant areas of the normal fetal development is still lacking, and this was the aim of this project. 3. 23. Interventions for portal hypertension in patients with portal vein occlusion and possible effects of a stent-graft on hepatic circulation

    University dissertation from Diagnostic Radiology, (Lund)

    Author : Inger Keussen; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; recanalization; TIPS; hepatic vein occlusion; children; Key words: portal vein occlusion; scintigraphy; stent; portal hypertension;

    Abstract : Symptomatic portal hypertension (PH), is often treated by transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). Patients with PH, caused by prehepatic portal vein occlusion, require recanalization with stent or stent-graft often followed by additional TIPS. READ MORE

  4. 24. Non-invasive diagnostic methods of intracranial arteries

    University dissertation from Diagnostic Radiology, (Lund)

    Author : Birgitta Ramgren; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intracranial aneurysms; endovascular treatment; follow-up; subarachnoid haemorrhage; digital subtraction angiography; magnetic resonance angiography; computed tomography angiography; technical aspects; contrast agents; image quality;

    Abstract : Aims of this thesis were to compare the agreement of different magnetic resonance angiography(MRA) techniques and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in follow-up of intracranial aneurysms treated with coils in order to select the best MRA method, to evaluate the impact of increased iodine concentration in contrast medium and decreased tube voltage on arterial attenuation and image quality in computed tomography angiography (CTA) of intracranial arteries, and finally to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of CTA in non-traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) compared to DSA and to assess the arterial attenuation (HU) as an image quality factor in this aspect. Follow-up DSA and time-of-flight (TOF) MRA at 1. READ MORE

  5. 25. Mammographic density in relation to breast cancer Tumor characteristics, mode of detection, and density assessments

    University dissertation from Medical Radiology Unit

    Author : Hanna Sartor; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Mammographic density reflects the composition of the breast tissue and can be measured by different methods. Mammography has a lower sensitivity in women with dense breasts, and women with dense breasts have a higher incidence of breast cancer than do women with non–dense breasts. READ MORE
