  1. 1. Railway traffic disturbance management

    Author : Johanna Törnquist; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Railway traffic; Transportation; Re-scheduling; Disturbance management; Decision support systems;

    Abstract : With the increasing traffic volumes in many railway networks and reports on capacity deficiencies that result in insufficient punctuality and reliability, the need for efficient disturbance management solutions becomes evident. This thesis focuses on solutions that aim to minimise the consequences of disturbances for the various stakeholders and specifically on methods for re-scheduling the traffic. READ MORE

  2. 2. Exploring Public Procurement of Swedish Railway Infrastructure Maintenance

    Author : Jens Aldenlöv; Bjarne Bergquist; Tina Karrbom Gustavsson; Per Erik Eriksson; Henrik Eriksson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Public Procurement; Railway Maintenance; Supply Chain Management; Contract Design; Kvalitetsteknik; Quality Technology Management;

    Abstract : In 2002, Sweden started to outsource its railway infrastructure maintenance. Through gradual exposure (i.e. outsourcing one contract area at a time), the Swedish Transport Administration has developed its competence of being a client towards its contractors. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structural Control and Identification of Civil Engineering Structures

    Author : Tarek Edrees; Francesc Pozo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Construction Engineering and Management; Byggproduktion; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : In general, the main purpose of a structural control system is to apply powerful control techniques that improve the behaviour of civil structures under various kinds of dynamic loading. The first part of this thesis presents novel applications of posicast and input shaping control schemes that have never previously been applied in the field of structural control. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thermal Crack Risk Estimation and Material Properties of Young Concrete

    Author : Anders Hösthagen; Jan-Erik Jonasson; Mårten Larson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal cracking risk; young concrete; Equivalent Restraint Method; strength development; heat of hydration; creep; shrinkage; thermal dilation; modeling; field observations; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents how to establish a theoretical model to predict risk of thermal cracking in young concrete when cast on ground or an arbitrary construction. The crack risk in young concrete is determined in two steps: 1) calculation of temperature distribution within newly cast concrete and adjacent structure; 2) calculation of stresses caused by thermal and moisture (due to self-desiccation, if drying shrinkage not included) changes in the analyzed structure. 5. 5. Monitoring as an instrument for improving environmental performance in public authorities : Experience from Swedish Infrastructure Management

    Author : Kristina Lundberg; Lennart Folkeson; Berit Balfors; Jos Arts; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental Management System EMS ; Environmental Impact Assessment EIA follow-up; Strategic Environmental Assessment SEA ; Environmental Performance Evaluation EPE ; organisational learning; Railway; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Abstract : Monitoring is an important tool for gaining insight into an organisation’s environmental performance and for learning about the environmental condition and the effectiveness of environmental management measures. Development of environmental monitoring has generally relied on research aiming at improving monitoring methodology, technique or practice within a particular management tool. READ MORE
