  1. 16. Modelling of wheel/rail interaction considering roughness and discrete irregularities

    Author : Astrid Pieringer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; roughness; non-Hertzian contact; railway noise; vertical wheel rail interaction; time domain; discrete irregularities;

    Abstract : The interaction between wheel and rail is the predominant source of noise emission from railway operations in a wide range of conventional speeds. On the one hand, this wheel/rail noise concerns rolling noise and impact noise caused by the vertical interaction excited by roughness and discrete irregularities of the wheel/rail running surfaces, respectively. 2. 17. Time-domain modelling of high-frequency wheel/rail interaction

    Author : Astrid Pieringer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

  3. 18. Noise from Train Cooling Fans

    Author : Yan Jiang; Mats Åbom; Thomas Carolus; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustics; Akustik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns a study undertaken on a railway vehicle cooling fan system. Several design modifications were proposed and tested in the laboratory in order to evaluate different noise control measures. The most effective noise control measure involving combining lots of different measures gave 7 dB(A) noise reduction. READ MORE

  4. 19. Thermally induced roughness of tread braked railway wheels : a noise-related problem

    Author : Tore V Vernersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

  5. 20. Road Traffic Noise - Factors modifying its relation to annoyance and cardiovascular disease

    Author : Theo Bodin; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Road Traffic Noise; Annoyance; Myocardial Infarction; Hypertension; Sleep;

    Abstract : Traffic noise causes annoyance and sleep disturbance and has been linked with several other adverse effects on life quality and health, including increased risk of hypertension and myocardial infarction. Conservative estimates assume that at least one million healthy life years are lost every year from traffic related noise in the western part of Europe. READ MORE
