  1. 1. Cross-regulation between TGFβ/BMP Signalling and the metabolic LKB1 pathway

    Author : Erna Raja; Aristidis Moustakas; Tomi Mäkelä; Uppsala University Faculty of Medicine Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cell signalling; TGFbeta; BMP; LKB1; AMPK; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : Cell signalling determines physiological responses to many cellular stimuli and environmental changes. The transforming growth factor-beta (TGFβ)/bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signalling pathways begin by binding of ligand to the heterodimeric receptor complex, followed by activation of Smads that translocate to the nucleus to regulate transcription of genes that further mediate cellular physiology. 2. 2. On Integrated Product Architectures: Representation, modelling and evaluation

    Author : Visakha Raja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; functional decompositions; product internal organisation; Integrated product architecture; system-component interaction;

    Abstract : Continued growth in the commercial aerospace industry makes aircraft manufacturers look for low maintenance, fuel efficient airplanes and aircraft engines are an important factor in the maintenance and fuel costs. The drive for operating cost reduction leads to innovative engine architectures that can place very different requirements on supplier provided components. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the Design of Functionally Integrated Aero-engine Structures: Modeling and Evaluation Methods for Architecture and Complexity

    Author : Visakha Raja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Product Architecture; Aero-engine Structures; Configurable Components; Load Paths; Design Product Complexity; Functionally Integrated Product Architecture; Product Development; Structural Complexity; Function–Means Modeling;

    Abstract : The drive for airplanes with radically reduced fuel consumption and emissions motivates engine manufacturers to explore innovative engine designs. The novelty of such engines results in changed operating conditions, such as newly introduced constraints, increased loads or rearranged interfaces. READ MORE

  4. 4. Fabrication and Characterization of Composite TiO2/Carbon Nanofilms with Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity

    Author : Raja Sellappan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TiO2; carbon; photoluminescence; photodegradation; recombination.; Photocatalysis;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is dedicated to fabrication and characterization of an efficient thin film photocatalyst for environmental cleaning and solar fuel applications. Because of its simplicity and reproducible fabrication, the chosen combination of nanometer thin titania and carbon films serves also as a model system for a wider class of photoactive materials. 5. 5. MECHANISMS OF ENHANCED ACTIVITY OF MODEL TiO2/CARBON and TiO2/METAL NANOCOMPOSITE PHOTOCATALYSTS

    Author : Raja Sellappan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photocatalysis; graphite; solar energy conversion; graphene; localized surface plasmon resonance; photocatalytic mechanisms; nanocomposites; TiO2; carbon;

    Abstract : TiO2 is the most widely used photocatalyst for energy and environmental applications because of its outstanding physical and chemical properties. However, the quantum efficiency of TiO2 is greatly diminished by fast electron-hole pairs recombination and light absorption only in the UV region. READ MORE
