  1. 1. Oesophageal function, acid reflux and bronchopulmonary disease : A study on children and adolescents with asthma or cystic fibrosis

    Author : Per Gustafsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This thesis comprises a literature review of gastro-ocsophageal reflux (GOR) and six studies which aim to determine the prevalence of oesophageal dysfunction (OD) and pathological GOR and their significance concerning the bronchopulmonary disease in children and adolescents with bronchial asthma or cystic fibrosis (CF). Oesophageal function was assessed by manomctry combined with oesophageal provocation tests. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mechanisms of secretagogue action in isolated parietal cells

    Author : Zhao-Qi Li; Frank Sundler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The mechanisms of secretagogue action and various intracellular events in isolated pig and rat gastric parietal cells were investigated. The response to gastrin in aminopyrine accumulation, an index of the acid produced and n·apped by the cells, was ilifferent in pig and rat parietal cells. READ MORE

  3. 3. Gastric gland luminal pressure and mucosal protection : An in vivo study in the anesthetized rat

    Author : Ingrid Synnerstad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology and anatomy; acid secretion; bicarbonate; epithelial cell surface pH; gastric gland; muscularismucosa; micropuncture; mucosal blood flow; mucus gel thickness; omeprazole; permeability; prostaglandins; ranitidine; rat; Fysiologi och anatomi; Physiology and pharmacology; Fysiologi och farmakologi; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Abstract : The driving force for creation of channels in gastric mucus, for acid and pepsin transport, ismost probably the hydrostatic pressure generated within the gastric gland lumen. The aim ofthis study was to investigate the origin and regulation of the glandular pressure. READ MORE

  4. 4. Gastric acid secretion and gut peptides : mechanisms involved in inflammatory response

    Author : Tobias Rudholm Feldreich; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The regulation of gastric acid secretion is complex and involves endocrine, paracrine, and neurocrine mechanisms. Among these, the interconnecting cross-talk between different gut peptides is an important part in the control of acid secretion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mediator synergism in mast celldependent inflammation : role of histamine for leukocyte recruitment

    Author : Henrik Thorlacius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Chemoattractants; dexamethasone; histamine; inflammation; intravital microscopy; mast cells; leukocyte adhesion; leukocyte rolling; microcirculation; mast cells; nitric oxide; leukotrienes; P-selectin.;

    Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was to study functional interactions between histamine and chemotactic mediators, and the role of histamine for leukocyte recruitment in mast cell-dependent inflammation. Leukocyte rolling, adhesion and emigration. READ MORE
