1. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads : Methods Development and Efficiency Studies
Abstract : Approximately 75 percent (300 000 km) of the total Swedish road network and 20 percent(20 000 km) of the national road network consists of gravel roads. One of the most significantproblems associated with gravel roads is traffic-generated dust emission, which contributes tothe deterioration of the road surface and acts as a major source of particulate matter releasedinto the atmosphere, thereby involving public economics, road safety, human health, andenvironmental quality. 2. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads: Methods Development and Efficiency Studies
Abstract : Application of the proper dust suppressant to a gravel road ensures road safety and riding comfort as well as creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents in buildings adjacent to the road. It also reduces the need and cost for vehicle repair, road maintenance activities, and aggregate supplementation. READ MORE

3. Renewable Energy in Energy-Efficient, Low-Pollution Systems
Abstract : Energy use accounts for the dominating fraction of total sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. In this thesis, different strategies for reducing these emissions are evaluated, using a bottom-up approach. The thesis is divided in two parts. READ MORE

4. Influence of transient loading on lubricant density and frictional properties
Abstract : This licentiate thesis deals with the influence of transient loading, at high pressures, on the pressure-dilatation relation and frictional properties of lubricants. A Split-Hopkinson pressure bar and a Ball and Bar apparatus have been used for the experiments. READ MORE

5. A rockwool biofilter for the treatment of restaurant emissions
Abstract : Over the past 20 years, the use of biological air pollution control has become a popular treatment alternative for contaminated gas streams. The objective of this licentiate thesis was to investigate the feasibility of a compact rockwool biofilter to treat emissions from a restaurant, to identify an appropriate microbial population for the inoculation of the biofilter, and suitable environmental conditions for this culture.
