6. Hybrid cellular-broadcasting infrastructure systems : radio resource management issues
Abstract : This thesis addresses the problem of low-cost multicast delivery of multimedia content in future mobile networks. The trend towards reuse of existing infrastructure for cellular and broadcasting for building new systems is challenged, with respect to the opportunities for low cost service provision and scalable deployment of networks. 7. Spatial Vision in Birds: Anatomical investigation of spatial resolving power
Abstract : Avian eyes are big both in relative and absolute terms, thus the importance of vision to birds is obvious. Even though the general eye plan is rather conservative throughout the group, there is a great variation in visual capabilities. READ MORE

8. Predator-prey interactions of raptors in an arctic environment
Abstract : This thesis concerns the predator-prey interactions of three raptor species in a Swedish arctic community: the gyrfalcon (Falco rusticolus), the rough-legged buzzard (Buteo lagopus) and the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos). The gyrfalcon behaved like a highly specialised ptarmigan (Lagopus spp.) predator. READ MORE

9. Functional and Molecular Characterization of Centrally Expressed Genes Associated with Obesity
Abstract : Obesity is a complex disorder that has reached epidemic proportions in the Western world, currently affection more than two billion people. The evidence for the genetic influence on obesity has been estimated to be as high as 70% based on twin studies. READ MORE

10. Migration strategies of raptors – spatio-temporal adaptations and constraints in travelling and foraging
Abstract : My dissertation is about bird migration and addresses questions about how raptors adapt to the fluctuating environments during the transition seasons between breeding and wintering. The migration is highly affected by local prey abundance, foraging strategies, weather conditions and landscape patterns along the migration routes as well as navigation and orientation mechanisms and cues.
