1. Interaction of atomic ions with electrons : Recombination rate coefficients for C1+, F5+, Ne5+, S14+,S15+
Abstract : This thesis concentrates on electron-ion interaction studies, in particular focusing on dielectronic recombination (DR) of highly charged ions relevant to astrophysics and plasma physics. The measurements were performed at the Stockholm Refrigerated Electron Beam Ion Trap (R-EBIT) and at the CRYRING heavy-ion storage ring. READ MORE

2. On the formation of small molecules by radiative association
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the theoretical investigation of radiative association, which is one of the processes contributing to formation of molecules in the interstellar medium. The formation of the CN, SiN, SiP and CO molecules through radiative association of the corresponding atoms in their ground electronic states is studied by the means of classical and quantum dynamical calculations. 3. Roller skis' rolling resistance and grip characteristics : influences on physiological and performance measures in cross-country skiers
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate roller ski characteristics; classical and freestyle roller skis’ rolling resistance coefficients (μR) and classical style roller skis’ static friction coefficients (μS), and to study the influence of different μR and μS on cross-country skiers’ performance and both physiological and biomechanical indices. The aim was also to study differences in skiing economy and efficiency between recreational skiers, female and male junior and senior elite cross-country skiers. READ MORE

4. The Analysis of Duration and Panel Data in Economics
Abstract : This thesis is divided into two distinct parts. The first part contains three chapters dealing with the analysis of duration data from an econometric perspective and with application to trade durations. READ MORE

5. Frictional studies and high strain rate testing of wood under refining conditions
Abstract : When producing thermomechanical pulps (TMP), wood chips and fiber material are loaded mechanically in a disc-refiner to separate the fibers and to make them flexible. In the process, much of the energy supplied is transferred to the fiber material through cyclic compression, shear and friction processes. READ MORE
