12. Synthetic Pathways to Aliphatic Polyesters and Scaffold Design
Abstract : As the field of tissue engineering progresses, a continuous development of scaffold fabrication techniques and suitable degradable materials is required to obtain scaffolds with tunable characteristics. This thesis has focused on the development of pathways to synthesize degradable aliphatic polyesters and on the design of highly porous scaffolds from this class of materials. READ MORE

13. Characterization of Substance P (SP) Aminoterminal SP (1-7) Binding in Brain Regions and Spinal Cord of the Male Rat : Studies on the Interaction with Opioid Related Pathways
Abstract : Binding sites for substance P(1-7), SP(1-7) have been identified and characterized for the first time in crude membrane fraction from rat CNS using tritiated ([3H]) SP(1-7) as tracer. These putative receptors were investigated in relation to their affinity for tachykinins, opioid peptides and sigma receptor ligands. READ MORE

14. Natural Product Synthesis and Development of Novel Reaction Methodology
Abstract : This thesis deals with the development of new reaction methodology for stereoselective synthesis, as well as total synthesis of natural products and investigations of the stereochemical outcome in the Mukaiyama aldol reaction. Chapter 2 describes efforts made towards the total synthesis of the oxindole natural products perophoramidine and the communesin. READ MORE

15. Photocatalytic TiO2 thin films for air cleaning : Effect of facet orientation, chemical functionalization, and reaction conditions
Abstract : Poor indoor air quality is a source of adverse health effects. TiO2 coatings deposited on well-illuminated surfaces, such as window panes, can be used to fully mineralize indoor air pollutants by photocatalysis. READ MORE
