1. Studies of reactions occurring in the AUC-process : from UF₆ to sintered UO₂ pellets
Abstract : This study has been carried out to investigate the influence of process parameters upon the material characteristics during the conversion of UFg to UO2 powder, and the importance of variation in these charcteristics for the final quality of the sintered pellets. The first process step is a precipitation of ammonium uranyl carbonate (AUC) from UFg, ammonia and carbon dioxide. READ MORE

2. Synthesis of Tetrahydrofuran and Pyrrolidine Derivatives Utilising Radical Reactions : Organochalcogenides in Reductive, Carbonylative and Group-Transfer Cyclisation
Abstract : This thesis describes free-radical reactions for the construction of tetrahydrofuran and pyrrolidine derivatives. The studies are concerned with (i) diastereoselectivity in radical cyclisation, (ii) construction of tetrahydrofuran-3-ones and pyrrolidin-3-ones via radical carbonylation/cyclisation and (iii) synthesis of tetrahydrofuran derivatives via group-transfer cyclisation of organochalcogen compounds. 3. Key Aspects of Sintering Powder Metallurgy Steel Prealloyed with Chromium and Manganese
Abstract : The powder metallurgy (PM) process is a cost efficient near net-shape technology suitable for sustainable manufacturing of structural steel components. A drawback with the PM technology is the difficulty to use oxidation sensitive alloying elements, such as Cr and Mn. READ MORE

4. Electrochromism in Nickel-based Oxides : Coloration Mechanisms and Optimization of Sputter-deposited Thin Films
Abstract : Electrochromic properties of sputter-deposited nickel-based oxide films have been studied with a two-fold goal. From a practical point of view, the optical switching performance has been improved by optimizing the deposition conditions and film stoichiometry with respect to oxygen and hydrogen, and further by adding Mg, Al, Si, Zr, Nb or Ta to the films. 5. ROLE OF SURFACE OXIDES IN SINTERING OF CHROMIUM-ALLOYED STEEL POWDER
Abstract : During water-atomisation and handling of steel powder the surface inevitably oxidises. The surface bound oxide is an important factor in the processing of powder metallurgical (PM) steels, especially in case the powder contains elements forming stable oxides, such as Cr, Mn, and Si.
