  1. 1. Psychophysiological reactions to experimental stress : relations to pain sensitivity, position sense and stress perception

    Author : Marina Heiden; Eugene Lyskov; Tohr Nilsson; Ulf Lundberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : public health; autonomic activity; cognitive-behavioral training; muscle oxygenation; physical activity; position sense; pressure-pain thresholds; sick leave; stress; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Abstract : Stress and monotonous work contribute substantially to the development of chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Yet, the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the process, particularly the involvement of autonomic regulation, remain unclear. READ MORE

  2. 2. A long journey from bioanode to biocathode

    Author : Soroush Saheb Alam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biocathode; Bioelectrochemical system; Storage; Starvation; Microbial electrolysis cell; Bioanode; Microbial fuel cell; Mixed microbial communities; Hydrogenotrophic microorganisms;

    Abstract : Better utilization of renewable sources of energy and recovery of resources from waste streams are important challenges for researchers. Bioelectrochemical systems (BESs) are new technologies which e.g. could be used to produce green energy from waste sources or store renewable electricity as chemical fuels. READ MORE

  3. 3. Properties of solid wood : responses to drying and heat treatment

    Author : Margot Sehlstedt-Persson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wood Physics; Träfysik;

    Abstract : The hygro-thermal processes that wood is exposed to during drying and heat treatment lead to different reactions or responses in the wood material. The objective of this thesis has been to study the impact of different drying and heat-treatment strategies on various responses, such as strength, sorption/desorption behaviour, dimensional stability and colour changes. 4. 4. Recycling Inorganic Residues from Wood-based Industries to the Forest- study of Treatment Techniques and Leaching Characteristics

    Author : Maryam Mahmoudkhani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Diffusion; Treatment techniques; Alkaline solid residues; Heterogeneous reactions; Modified column-pHstat test; Recycling; Leaching; Characterization; Field test;

    Abstract : Abstract. In order to minimize the negative impact of loss of nutrients in the forest soil (when harvesting the wood), inorganic solid residues, from wood-based industries, have to be recycled back to the forest soil. READ MORE

  5. 5. In vitro fertilization : emotional reactions to treatment, pregnancy and parenthood

    Author : Anna Hjelmstedt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : in vitro fertilization; infertility distress; pregnancy; parenthood; personality traits; anxiety; marital relationship;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to study the emotional reactions of women and men entering in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment and to study the emotional reactions during pregnancy and postpartum in couples who have achieved a pregnancy following IVF. Ninety-one couples seeking IVF treatment were investigated regarding gender differences in stress related to infertility. READ MORE
