  1. 11. Voltage Support of Transmission Grids Using Resources Located in the Underlying Lower Voltage Networks : Unlocking the Potential of Distributed Generation Reactive Power Capabilities

    Author : Stefan Stanković; Lennart Söder; Andrew Keane; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reactive power support; voltage control; voltage stability; reactive power planning; inverter-based generation; active distribution networks; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The path to sustainable, fossil-free future leads to inevitable energy transition towards renewable energy sources. A part of this transition includes replacement of conventional transmission system connected power plants with distributed renewables plants such as wind power. READ MORE

  2. 12. To grip and not to slip : sensorimotor mechanisms in reactive control of grasp stability

    Author : Charlotte Häger Ross; Roland S. Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; human; hand; precision grip; grasp force; friction; cutaneous mechanoreceptors; sensorimotor integration; motor control;

    Abstract : The reactive control of fingertip forces maintaining grasp stability was examined in man during a prehensile task. Blindfolded subjects used the precision grip between the tips of index finger and thumb to restrain an object that was subjected to unpredictable load forces. These were delivered tangential to the parallel grip surfaces of the object. READ MORE

  3. 13. Studies in pest control for cultural property

    Author : Thomas Strang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pest control; cultural property collections; insect; mould; environment; integrated pest management; IPM; thermal control; pest risk to museum collections;

    Abstract : This thesis considers discrete problems of protecting cultural property from pests and examines some of the solutions. Recent decades have seen a large change in how fumigants and pesticides are used in collections of cultural property. READ MORE

  4. 14. Steady State Operation and Control of Power Distribution Systems in the Presence of Distributed Generation

    Author : Ferry Viawan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; distance protection; stochastic assessment; voltage dip; line drop compensation; distribution systems; on-load tap changer; overcurrent protection; sensitive equipment; voltage dip immunity; voltage control; short circuit; reactive power control; pilot protection.; protection coordination; protection; Distributed Generation; losses;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the impact of distributed generation (DG) on steady state operation and control of power distribution systems is investigated. Over the last few years, a number of factors have led to an increased interest in DG schemes. DG is gaining more and more attention worldwide as an alternative to large-scale central generating stations. READ MORE

  5. 15. Drug Metabolites Formed by Cunninghamella Fungi : Mass Spectrometric Characterization and Production for use in Doping Control

    Author : Axel Rydevik; Mikael Hedeland; Ulf Bondesson; David Cowan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cunninghamella blakesleeana; Cunninghamella elegans; Doping Control; Drug Metabolites; Glucuronide Production; Mass Spectrometry; Reactive Metabolites; Reference Material; Structural Characterization; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the in vitro production of drug metabolites using fungi of the Cunninghamella species. The metabolites were characterized with mainly liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry using ion-trap and quadrupole-time-of-flight instruments. A fungal in vitro model has several advantages e.g. READ MORE
