21. Regulation of the pro-apoptotic protein Bim by T cell receptor triggering in human T cells
Abstract : Bim is a significant pro-apoptotic member of Bcl-2 family of proteins; it is proved to be an important regulator of apoptosis: over the years it has been shown to play a pivotal role for the development and maintenance of homeostasis in many cellular systems and tissues. The Bcl-2 family of proteins is a group of key regulators of the mitochondrial, or intrinsic, pathway of apoptosis. READ MORE

22. Expression and prognostic value of LRIG1 and the EGF-receptor family in renal cell and prostate cancer
Abstract : The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family consists of four (EGFR, ErbB2, Erbb3, and ErbB4) receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK) whose signalling is important for physiological and malignant cellular functions such as proliferation, survival, migration, and differentiation. EGFR and ErbB2 in particular are established oncogenes in many solid tumours and are targets for anti-cancer treatment. READ MORE

23. Role of AKT/ PKB and 14-3-3 in the regulation of B cell receptor signaling and signalosome assembly
Abstract : AKT/PKB is an oncogenic serine/threonine kinase regulated via the PI3K pathways. 14-3-3s represent a large group of adaptor proteins that are known to interact with a plethora of signaling proteins and regulate diverse signal transduction pathways. READ MORE

24. Studies on molecular properties and functional regulation of terminal leukotriene C4 synthases and cysteinyl-leukotriene receptor signalling in human endothelium
Abstract : The transformation of the unstable intermediate leukotriene (LT) A4 into the glutathione conjugate LTC4, the parent compound of LTD4 and LTE4, is catalysed by leukotriene C4 synthase (LTC4S) as well as microsomal glutathione S-transferase type 2 (MGST2) and type 3 (MGST3). Together, these eicosanoids also known as cysteinyl leukotrienes (cys-LT) are key mediators of immediate hypersensitivity reactions. READ MORE

25. OXYTOCIN AND VASOPRESSIN IN UTERINE ACTIVITY. Receptor-mediated agonism and antagonism with special regard to the aetiology and treatment of preterm labour and primary dysmenorrhoea
Abstract : With a view to the aetiology and treatment of preterm labour and primary dysmenorrhoea we studied the influence of sexual steroids on the plasma levels of oxytocin and vasopressin, effect of these peptides on uterine contractility in vitro and in vivo, receptor concentrations and antagonists to oxytocin and vasopressin. In postmenopausal women oestrogen increased the concentrations in plasma of both peptides, whereas progesterone increased oxytocin but decreased vasopressin levels. READ MORE
