  1. 1. Quality Control for high-throughput Quantitative Proteomics - Harnessing the potential of label-free LC-MS

    Author : Marianne Sandin; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proteomics; mass spectrometry; quality control; data analysis; label-free; feature detection; alignment; biomarker discovery; separation techniques;

    Abstract : Multiplex protein quantification, proteomics, is essential for uncovering new biomarkers and understanding biology. Liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is the predominant technique for these measurements. READ MORE

  2. 2. Label-free processing of stem cell preparations by acoustophoresis

    Author : Franziska Olm; Avdelningen för molekylär hematologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acoustophoresis; label-free cell separation; ultrasound; microfluidics; stem cell processing; CTC separation;

    Abstract : The first bone marrow transplant in a human was performed in 1959, providing evidence that cells can be used for transplantation and treatment, revealing that healing capacities lie within the human body that ought to be understood. Since then hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has developed as a standard treatment for many cancers besides other malignancies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Applications of Diversity and the Self-Attention Mechanism in Neural Networks

    Author : Axel Berg; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; point cloud; self-attention; keyword spotting; deep learning; computer vision; machine learning; label diversity;

    Abstract : This thesis covers three contributions in applications of neural networks. The first is related to diversity and ensemble learning, while the other two cover novel applications of the self-attention mechanism. An important aspect of training a neural network is the choice of objective function. READ MORE

  4. 4. Label Cover Reductions for Unconditional Approximation Hardness of Constraint Satisfaction

    Author : Cenny Wenner; Johan Håstad; Irit Dinur; Numerical Analysis and Computer Science (NADA) Faculty of Science Stockholm University; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optimization; NP; Approximation; Approximability; Inapproximability; Constraint Satisfaction; CSP; Boolean Analysis; Satisfiability; SAT; Acyclic Subgraph; Betweenness; Unique Games; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : Problem solving is an integral aspect of modern society and includes such tasks as picking the fastest route to work, optimizing a production line, scheduling computer tasks, placing new bus stops, or picking a meal from available ingredients.We study the hardness of solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs). 5. 5. Cell Sorting in Pillar Arrays based on Electrokinetics and Morphology

    Author : Bao Dang Ho; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell Sorting; Label-Free Separation; Deterministic Lateral Displacement; Electrokinetics; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Dang Ho;

    Abstract : Deterministic Lateral Displacement (DLD) is a method capable of sorting cells based on size where mechanicalinteractions between a sufficiently large particle and obstacles in a microfludic pillar array force the particle tofollow a different trajectory than their smaller counterparts, resulting in continuous lateral separation. To extendthe capability of DLD, electrical interaction between particles and pillars can be employed to complement themechanical interaction, making electrical/dielectric properties additional parameters for sorting.
