  1. 1. Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder. Aspects of treatment, Costs and Follow-up Routines

    Author : Ingela Berrum-Svennung; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : bladder cancer; cystectomy; stents; economics; follow-up cystoscopy; single-instillation; epirubicin; recurrence size;

    Abstract : Aims: To determine costs and factors related to the total costs of cystectomy. To study the results of the radiological examinations performed 7-14 days after a cystectomy. To investigate if a single instillation of epirubicin after transurethral resection (TUR) may influence the time to the first recurrence and its size. READ MORE

  2. 2. Lung Metastases - Diagnostic, Prognostic and Molecular Aspects with Focus on Colorectal Cancer

    Author : Halla Vidarsdottir; Förbättrad diagnostik och prognostik vid lungcancer och metastaser till lunga; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lung cancer; lung metastasis; tissue microarray; TTF-1; napsin A; cytokeratin; GATA3; CDX2; PAX8; CRC; pulmonary metastasectomy; RBM3; recurrence; survival; NGS; Trusight tumor 26; Trusight Oncology 500;

    Abstract : In Sweden 4200 patients are diagnosed with lung cancer and 6500 patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) annually. The lungs are a common site for metastases. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a helpful aid in diagnostics of a pulmonary tumour. READ MORE

  3. 3. Local recurrence after breast conserving surgery in breast cancer

    Author : Irma Fredriksson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Breast Cancer; Breast Conserving Surgery; Radiotherapy; Local Recurrence; Axillary Recurrence; Risk Factors; Distant Metastasis; Cohort Study; Case-Control Study;

    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to gain increased insight into the problem of local recurrences after breast conserving surgery for breast cancer. In a population-based cohort of 4,694 women with invasive breast cancer, operated in 1981 to 1990 and followed through 1997, we studied how breast conserving surgery had been adopted into clinical practice. 4. 4. Interstitial laser thermotherapy (ILT) of breast cancer - Methodology and immunological responce

    Author : Kristin Huld-Haraldsdottir; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; Laser thermotherapy; Minimally invasive treatment; Tumour immunology; Thermal treatment; Tumour size; Magnetic resonance imaging;

    Abstract : Interstitial laser thermotherapy (ILT) is an attractive form of local therapy against cancer because of its anti-tumor immune activity. The aim of this work was to evaluate ILT in breast cancer with respect to technique, changes in tissue immunocompetent cells and effect on prognosis. READ MORE

  5. 5. Refined diagnosis and prognosis in soft tissue sarcoma - genetic profiles, biomarkers and prognostic models

    Author : Ana Carneiro; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MFH; microarrays; prognostic factors; metastasis; local recurrence; proliferation; Ki67; Top2a; p21; p27; S-phase fraction; erzin.;

    Abstract : This work aimed at evaluate diagnosis and prognosis in soft tissue sarcoma (STS): In study I, 32K bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) arrays and gene expression profiling were applied to 18 leiomyosarcomas and 31 undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas (UPS), with the aim of identifying molecular subtype signatures. Both the gains/losses profiles and the gene expression signatures revealed striking similarities between the two tumour types. READ MORE
