  1. 21. Redox reactions in cancer: impact and regulation

    Author : Hanna Grauers Wiktorin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; Immunotherapy; reactive oxygen species; NOX2; histamine dihydrochloride; myeloid-derived suppressor cells; checkpoint inhibition; acute myeloid leukemia; chronic myeloid leukemia;

    Abstract : The reduction-oxidation (redox) reaction involves a change in the oxidation state of molecules where a molecule that donates an electron is oxidized and a molecule that accepts an electron is reduced. The NADPH oxidase of myeloid cells, NOX2, is a major source of oxidants in the form of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are short-lived oxygen derivatives. READ MORE

  2. 22. Water as a trace component in mantle pyroxene: Quantifying diffusion, storage capacity and variation with geological environment

    Author : Rickard Sundvall; Henrik Skogby; Alasdair Skelton; Eugen Libowitzky; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pyroxene; mantle mineralogy; water in nominally anhydrous minerals; iron redox-reaction; kinetics; water zonation; FTIR imaging; re-hydration capacity; Mineralogy; Mineralvetenskap; Mineralogy; Petrology and Geochemistry; mineralogi; petrologi och geokemi;

    Abstract : In this study, distribution and diffusion of water in pyroxene are examined in an effort to explain the water content variation observed in natural pyroxene. Water is a common trace component in many nominally anhydrous minerals (NAMs) from the Earth's crust and mantle and greatly impacts their physical properties. READ MORE

  3. 23. Biocatalysed redox reactions in aqueous and organic media

    Author : Mats Andersson; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PLS; coenzyme regeneration; bioelectrocatalysis; hydrogenase; chloroperoxidase; HLADH; Proteus vulgaris; Alcaligenes eutrophus; artificial electron mediator; D- S _chlorolactic acid; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis deals mainly with biocatalysed methods for stereoselective reduction. D-(S)-chlorolactic acid was produced by both microbial and electromicrobial reduction of chloropyruvate using whole cells of Proteus vulgaris and an artificial electron mediator. The electron donor was formate, hydrogen gas or the cathode in an electrochemical cell. READ MORE

  4. 24. Terephthalate-Functionalized Conducting Redox Polymers for Energy Storage Applications

    Author : Li Yang; Martin Sjödin; Maria Strømme; Hiroyuki Nishide; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; conducting polymers; terephthalate; polythiophene; PEDOT; conductance;

    Abstract : Organic electrode materials, as sustainable and environmental benign alternatives to inorganic electrode materials, show great promise for achieving cheap, light, versatile and disposable devices for electrical energy storage applications. Conducting redox polymers (CRPs) are a new class of organic electrode materials where the charge storage capacity is provided by the redox chemistry of functional pendent groups and electronic conductivity is provided by the doped conducting polymer backbone, enabling the production of energy storage devices with high charge storage capacity and high power capability.
