  1. 1. Titanium-Based Negative Electrode Materials for Rechargeable Batteries : In Search of the Redox Reactions

    Author : Tatiana Koriukina; Kristina Edström; Egbert Figgemeier; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lithium-ion batteries; sodium-ion batteries; MXenes; perovskite oxides; redox reactions; XPS; Kemi med inriktning mot materialkemi; Chemistry with specialization in Materials Chemistry;

    Abstract : Rechargeable batteries, particularly, lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have proven to be stable and reliable energy storage devices over the past few decades. The rapid demands regarding battery applications and the pressure to move away from the fossil fuel era drive the search for new materials for better rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles, renewable energy storage, and portable electronics. 2. 2. Redox models in chemistry : A depiction of the conceptions held by secondary school students of redox reactions

    Author : Lise-Lotte Österlund; Margareta Ekborg; Anders Berg; Christiane Funk; Astrid Bulte; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; science education; redox reaction; model; inorganic chemistry; organic chemistry; biochemistry; students conceptions; textbook; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi; didactics of chemistry; kemididaktik;

    Abstract : According to previous research, students show difficulties in learning redox reactions. By the historical development different redox models exist to explain redox reactions, the oxygen model, the hydrogen model, the electron model and the oxidation number model. READ MORE

  3. 3. Spectroelectrochemistry of Redox Enzymes

    Author : Andreas Christenson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elektrokemi; Electrochemistry; complex II; bilirubin oxidase; laccase; enzyme mechanism; redox potential; electron transfer; spectroelectrochemistry; redox enzymes; Spectroelectrochemical cell;

    Abstract : A low volume and long optical path spectroelectrochemical cell was constructed and tested in a number of applications such as detection of direct electron transfer (DET) between redox enzymes and gold electrodes, determination of the formal potentials of redox centres in proteins and enzymes, as well as mechanistic studies of heterogeneous and intermolecular electron transfer of copper oxidases and succinate:quinine oxidoreductase (Complex II). The existence of DET between enzymes and electrodes was demonstrated for theophylline oxidase, cytochrome P450 cam, laccase, bilirubin oxidase, sulphite oxidase and Complex II. READ MORE

  4. 4. Redox Reactions of NO and O2 in Iron Enzymes : A Density Functional Theory Study

    Author : Mattias Blomberg; Per Siegbahn; Adrian Mulholland; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; enzyme catalysis; redox reactions; cytochrome oxidase; nitric oxide reductase; hyponitrous acid anhydride; peroxynitrite; myoglobin; prostaglandin synthase; PGHS; NO; N2O; O2; CO; Chemical physics; Kemisk fysik;

    Abstract : In the present thesis the density functional B3LYP has been used to study reactions of NO and O2 in redox active enzymes.Reduction of nitric oxide (NO) to nitrous oxide (N2O) is an important part in the bacterial energy conservation (denitrification). READ MORE

  5. 5. Transition Metal-Catalyzed Redox Reactions : A Journey from Homogeneous Ruthenium to Heterogeneous Palladium Catalysis

    Author : Oscar Verho; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Manfred Reetz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The first part of the thesis covers the development and utilization of electronically modified (pentaarylcyclopentadienyl)Ru-complexes in the racemization of secondary alcohols. This study revealed that the electronic properties of the substrate were the main factors dictating whether β-hydride elimination or hydride re-addition becomes the rate-determining step of the racemization process.
