  1. 1. Investigations of the Kinetics of Reduction and Reduction/Carburization of NiO-WO3 Precursors

    Author : Hesham M. Ahmed; Seshadri Seetharaman; Ricardo Morales Estrella; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reduction; Reduction-Carburization; Gas-solid Reactions; Kinetics; Hydrogen; Methane; Thermogravimetric analysis; Fluidized bed; Simulation; Thermal diffusivity; Thermal conductivity; Laser flash; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik; Process Metallurgy;

    Abstract : Kinetic studies of reduction of the mixtures of NiO and WO3 having different Ni/(Ni+W) molar ratios in flowing hydrogen gas were investigated by means of Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Fluidized Bed (FB) technique as well as Thermal diffusivity measurements under isothermal conditions. In the case of TGA, the reaction progress was monitored by mass loss, while evolved gas analysis by a gas chromatograph was the indicator of the reaction progress in the case of FB. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure-Reactivity Correlations for Reactions of Palladium(II) and Platinum(IV) Complexes

    Author : Tiesheng Shi; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thiol; l-methionine; maleic acid; carboxylic acid; thioether; platinum IV ; palladium II ; linear free energy relationship; volumes of activation; structure-reactivity correlation; reduction; substitution; equilibria; kinetics; mechanism; glutathione; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Abstract : The kinetics and mechanism for substitution reactions on tetraaquapalladium(II) by an extended series of thioethers, a great number of carboxylic acids, and olefins have been studied by use of UV-VIS, stopped-flow, and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and NMR spectroscopy. Second-order rate constants k and activation parameters (activation enthalpies, entropies, and volumes) for formation of monodentate 1:1 complexes have been determined. READ MORE

  3. 3. Synthesis of nano sized Cu and Cu-W alloy by hydrogen reduction

    Author : Ulrika Tilliander; Seshadri Seetharaman; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydrogen reduction; kinetics; activation energy; copper oxide; copper tungsten composite; alloy powder; manostructure; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The major part of the present work, deals with the reduction kinetics of Cu2O powder and a Cu2O-WO3 powder mixture by hydrogen gas, studied by ThermoGravimetric Analysis (TGA). The reduction experiments were carried out both isothermally and non-isothermally on thin powder beds over different temperature intervals. READ MORE

  4. 4. Kinetics for oxidation of CRUD model compounds

    Author : Maryam Abili Nejad; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; reactor chemistry; radiolysis; oxidation; kinetics; crud; metal oxide;

    Abstract : The formation of CRUD (Chalk River Unidentified Deposit) inwater-cooled nuclear reactors constitute a severe problem. Thestability of CRUD under reactor conditions (high flux ofionizing radition, high temperature and pressure) must be knownin order to minimize the problem. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fundamental Studies Related to Gaseous Reduction of Iron Oxide

    Author : Mania Kazemi; Du Sichen; Ioannis Arvanitidis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Direct reduction; iron ore; cementite; reduction model;

    Abstract : The demands for increasing the efficiency and lowering the environmental effects in iron and steelmaking industries have given rise to interests in application of direct reduction (DR) processes for production of iron by different gases. These advancements require comprehensive models for better control of the process conditions and the product properties. READ MORE
