  1. 1. Development and Applications of Molybdenum-Catalyzed Chemoselective Amide Reduction

    Author : Tove Slagbrand; Hans Adolfsson; André Charette; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrosilylation; reduction; reductive functionalization; catalysis; amides; enamines; chemoselective; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis covers the development of catalytic methodologies for the mild and chemoselective hydrosilylation of amides. The first part describes the investigation of the Mo(CO)6-catalyzed reduction of carboxamides. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functionalization, Characterization and Applications of Oxidized Nanocellulose Derivatives

    Author : Chang-Qing Ruan; Lindh Jonas; Strømme Maria; Mathew Aji P; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nanocellulose; Periodate oxidation; Oxone oxidation; Adsorption; Palladium; Congo red dye; Cellulose nanofibers; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Abstract : Cellulose, a sustainable raw material derived from nature, can be used for various applications following its functionalization and oxidation. Nanocellulose, inheriting the properties of cellulose, can offer new properties due to nanoscale effects, in terms of high specific surface area and porosity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cu(I) stabilizing polymers for marine anti-fouling applications

    Author : Alireza Movahedi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coordinating polymers; copper; anti-fouling coatings; CuAAC; triazole; epoxide.; polymer functionalization; click chemistry;

    Abstract : The growth of marine organisms on immersed surfaces in seawater is known as biofouling and causes several problems for marine transportation. The need to combat fouling is thus of great importance. Copper has to be used in extreme amounts to act as an efficient biocide. READ MORE

  4. 4. Lanthanide-mediated C-F Bond Activation Method Development and Mechanistic Investigation

    Author : Mario Janjetovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C-F bond activation; fluorine chemistry; lanthanides; single-electron transfer reagent; Lewis acid; chemoselectivity; synthetic method; catalysis;

    Abstract : The use of transition-metals and main-group Lewis acids has proven to be an outstanding source for activation and subsequent functionalization of fluorinated compounds. However, the first is mainly limited to C(sp2)–F bonds which partially are activated by an adjacent heteroatom, and the latter is limited to simple C(sp3)–F bonds due to particularly strong Lewis acid character.
