26. Characterisation of Food Associated Bacteria by DNA based Methods, with Special Reference to Enterobacteriaceae
Abstract : The presence of genes in food, encoding some virulence factors, was studied by PCR, and species of Enterobacteriaceae, associated with food, were studied by the DNA-based methods of TTGE, ribotyping and sequencing. The flora of fresh and chill-stored pork were analysed by a culture-independent approach, using specific amplification of 16S rRNA genes followed by cloning and sequencing. READ MORE

27. Crohn's disease : Studies on epidemiology, twins, aetiological factors and clinical course with special reference to smoking
Abstract : In an epidemiological study of the incidence of Crohn's disease in Orebro county during the 25-year period 1963-1987, the mean annual incidence was 6.1/105 inhabitants. During the first five year period the mean incidence was 4.3 but during the following four quinquennia the incidence was stable at around 6. READ MORE

28. Finite element modelling of the mechanics of solid foam materials
Abstract : Failure of bi-material interfaces is studied with the aim to quantify the influence of the induced stress concentrations on the strength of the interfaces. A simple point-stress criterion, used in conjunction with finite element calculations, is evaluated to provide strength predictions for bi-material bonded joints and inserts in polymer foam. 29. Credible targets for environmental management : evaluating reconstructions of reference values for ecological status in surface waters
Abstract : In the year 2000, countries of the European Union agreed to harmonise water management by implementing the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). The WFD uses good ecological status as the overall goal, which is defined as minor deviation from an undisturbed state. READ MORE

30. Object-Oriented Declarative Program Analysis
Abstract : This thesis deals with techniques for raising the programming level for a particular kind of computations, namely those on abstract syntax trees. Such computations are central in many program analysis tools, such as compilers, smart language-sensitive editors, and static analysis tools. READ MORE
