11. Molecular studies of initial atmospheric corrosion of copper : Exploration of ultra-sensitive techniques for the inhibiting effect of self assembled monolayers, and the effect of gamma radiation
Abstract : Atmospheric corrosion indoors is of great practical importance for the degradation of metals, for example in electronics, military equipment, and cultural heritage items. It involves a wide range of chemical, electrochemical, and physical processes occurring in gas, liquid, and solid phases, and at the interfaces between them. READ MORE

12. Characterization of Self-Assembled Monolayers of Oligo(phenyleneethynylene) Derivatives on Gold
Abstract : Oligo(phenyleneethynylene) (OPE) molecules are a class of fully conjugated aromatic molecules, that attract attention for their application as “molecular wires” in molecular electronic devices. In this thesis work, self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) formed from a variety of OPE derivatives have been studied. READ MORE

13. Design and synthesis of glycose-derivatives and related molecules for cell membrane mimetics
Abstract : A series of glucopyranose (α-D-glucose, β-D-glucose, D-gluconic acid and 6-amino-6-deoxy-D-glocuse) terminated alkanethiol acetals have been successfully synthesized. α and β-D-glucose were configured in controlled ways coupling with alkanethiol, in which bromosugar and trichloroacetirnidates were selected as activated glycosyl donors using different promoters tetraalkylammonium bromide (Et4NBr) and trimethylsilanetriflate (TMSOTf) respectively. 14. Signal Enhancement by Dynamic Polymers in Quartz Crystal Microbalance Applications
Abstract : This licentiate thesis presents studies of signal enhancement by dynamic polymers in quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) applications. The aim of the study has been to determine the potential for the use of polymers on QCM sensors for signal enhancement in molecular interaction studies. READ MORE

15. Microcontact Printing for Protein Microarray Applications
Abstract : This thesis introduces the microcontact printing (μCP) method to pattern and tailor the desired substrates for protein microarray applications. The ink molecules used to create the patterns, hydrophobic barriers, are tetraalkyl ammonium salt, polycationic polymers and oligo(ethylene glycol)-terminated self-assembled monolayers. READ MORE
