  1. 21. Onboard condition monitoring of vehicle-track dynamic interaction using machine learning : Enabling the railway industry’s digital transformation

    Author : Rohan Kulkarni; Mats Berg; Ulf Carlsson; Alireza Qazizadeh; Sebastian Stichel; Jordi Viñolas; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Active preventive maintenance; intelligent fault diagnosis; anomaly detection; vehicle fleet; track irregularities; vehicle hunting; wheel-rail interface.; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : The railway sector’s reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety (RAMS) can significantly improve by adopting condition based maintenance (CBM). In the CBM regime, maintenance decisions are driven by condition monitoring (CM) of the asset. READ MORE

  2. 22. Structure and dynamics of complex materials in the water-poor regime

    Author : Sanna Gustavsson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydration; cellulose; dissolution; sugar surfactant; hydrated crystals; structure; dynamics; phase diagram; fuel cell; pulsed-field-gradient PFG spin-echo NMR; Polarization Transfer solid state NMR; PXRD; GVS; TGA; amphiphilic;

    Abstract : In the solid state, molecules are normally ordered in a specific structure. With time, and as a result of influence from the surroundings, solid materials can change their molecular and/or crystal structure and, as a consequence, obtain completely different properties. Water is particularly important in this respect. READ MORE

  3. 23. Modelling of laser plasma interaction with applications to particle acceleration and radiation generation

    Author : Benjamin Svedung Wettervik; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plasma; ion acceleration; continuum methods; electron wakefield acceleration; raditation generation; coherent X-ray pulses; Vlasov-Maxwell equations;

    Abstract : The development of laser systems with ultra-high intensities has allowed the study of the relativistic interaction of laser light and ionized matter, plasmas, as well as opened up prospects for compact particle accelerators, generation of high intensity X-ray, XUV radiation, and probing QED-effects, which are present in the high intensity regime. To describe laser matter interaction, it is necessary to self-consistently account for the paths of a large number of particles and the corresponding electromagnetic fields, with the addition of stochastic effects at high laser intensities. 4. 24. Bridging Single-Particle Characterisation Gaps of Optical Microscopy in the Nano-Submicron Regime

    Author : Erik Olsén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; holography; particle shape; dynamics; Optical microscopy; particle tracking; size estimation; iSCAT; material sensitivity;

    Abstract : As the practical importance of particles in the nano-submicron size regime continues to increase in both biomedical applications and industrial processes, so does the need for accurate and versatile characterisation methods. Optical scattering microscopy methods are commonly used for single-particle characterisation as they provide quick measurements at physiologically relevant conditions with detection limits reaching down to individual biomolecules. 5. 25. Interaction of sensory and motor signals in the basal ganglia in health and disease

    Author : Mohammadreza Mohagheghi Nejad; Jeanette Hellgren Kotaleski; Robert Schmidt; Arthur Leblois; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : The basal ganglia, a set of deep forebrain nuclei, are among the brain regions involved in movement initiation and suppression. Although many studies have investigated the neural coding underlying these two aspects of movement, there are still questions that need to be addressed. READ MORE
