  1. 1. Identifying Influential Observations in Nonlinear Regression : a focus on parameter estimates and the score test

    Author : Karin Stål; Tatjana von Rosen; Sune Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Added parameter plot; differentiation approach; influential observation; nonlinear regression; score test; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis contributes to influence analysis in nonlinear regression and in particular the detection of influential observations. The focus is on a regression model with a known mean function, which is nonlinear in its parameters and where the function is chosen according to the knowledge about the process generating the data. 2. 2. Group-Sparse Regression : With Applications in Spectral Analysis and Audio Signal Processing

    Author : Ted Kronvall; Statistical Signal Processing Group; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sparse regression; group-sparsity; statistical modeling; regularization; hyperparameter-selection; spectral analysis; audio signal processing; classification; localization; multi-pitch estimation; chroma; convex optimization; ADMM; cyclic coordinate descent; proximal gradient;

    Abstract : This doctorate thesis focuses on sparse regression, a statistical modeling tool for selecting valuable predictors in underdetermined linear models. By imposing different constraints on the structure of the variable vector in the regression problem, one obtains estimates which have sparse supports, i.e. READ MORE

  3. 3. Prevalence of refractive errors and incidence of myopia in Swedish schoolchildren

    Author : Pelsin Demir; António Filipe Macedo; Karthikeyan Baskaran; Niall Strang; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Refractive error; myopia; prevalence; incidence; risk factors; children; fovea; macula; autorefractor; aberrometer; synfel; refraktion; myopi; barn; prevalens; incidens; riskfaktorer; fovea; makula; autorefractor; aberrometer; Optometry; Optometri;

    Abstract : PurposeThe aim of this thesis was to investigate the prevalence, incidence, and risk factors for myopia development in a cohort of Swedish schoolchildren. The specific goals were: - to recruit a cohort of children aged 8 to 16 years and to follow the cohort over a period of 24 months with regular study visits; - to investigate the predictive value of relative peripheral error and other optical parameters for the prevalence and incidence of myopia; - to determine and investigate the predictive value of genetic and environmental factors, and structural characteristics of the eye to the incidence of myopia. Abstract : This thesis consists of four self-contained essays in economics, all concerned with different aspects of subjective well-being. The abstracts of the four studies are as follows.Beyond Income: The Importance for Life Satisfaction of Having Access to a Cash Margin. READ MORE

  5. 5. Optimal Design of Experiments for the Quadratic Logistic Model

    Author : Ellinor Fackle Fornius; Hans Nyquist; Christos Kitsos; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Logistic regression; D-optimality; c-optimality; Canonical design space; Maximum likelihood estimation; Sequential design; Stochastic approximation; Statistics; Statistik; statistik; Statistics;

    Abstract : Optimal design of experiments for binary data is the topic of this thesis. A particular logistic model including a quadratic term in the linear predictor is considered. Determining an optimal design for this model is complicated by the fact that the optimal design is dependent on the unknown true parameters. READ MORE
