6. Towards the Identification of Wheel-Rail Contact Forces
Abstract : The accurate determination of the contact forces between rail and wheel is essential inthe analysis of different kinds of rolling contact fatigue. As the contact forces cannot bemeasured directly in the field, one approach is to measure the strain at certain positionsof an instrumented wheel. READ MORE

7. Characterization of Hydrogeological Media Using Electromagnetic Geophysics
Abstract : Radio magnetotellurics (RMT), crosshole ground penetrating radar (GPR), and crosshole electrical resistance tomography (ERT) were applied in a range of hydrogeological applications where geophysical data could improve hydrogeological characterization. A profile of RMT data collected over highly resistive granite was used to map subhorizontal fracture zones below 300m depth, as well as a steeply dipping fracture zone, which was also observed on a coinciding seismic reflection profile. 8. Input Estimation in Structural Dynamics
Abstract : Knowledge of time-varying excitation is of importance in the design of a wide range of engineering applications, from spacecraft and processing plants to electronic circuits. Regardless of the actual application or underlying physics, the expected input will play a key role in the determination of adequate system properties and parameters. READ MORE

9. Iterative Filtered Backprojection Methods for Helical Cone-Beam CT
Abstract : State-of-the-art reconstruction algorithms for medical helical cone-beam Computed Tomography (CT) are of type non-exact Filtered Backprojection (FBP). They are attractive because of their simplicity and low computational cost, but they produce sub-optimal images with respect to artifacts, resolution, and noise. READ MORE

10. Time Domain Methods for Load Identification of Linear and Nonlinear Systems
Abstract : The automotive industry faces an increasing demand for virtual prototyping to simulate the operation conditions of vehicles and subsystems. Each component, as well as the complete vehicle, must meet the desired design requirements in a time- and cost-efficient development process. READ MORE
