21. Metabolic Effects of Growth Hormone Replacement Therapy in Adults - with Special Reference to Insulin Sensitivity
Abstract : A risk for premature atherosclerosis and increased cardiovascular mortality has been reported in adult patients suffering from growth hormone deficiency (GHD) and receiving conventional hormone substitution without growth hormone (GH) replacement. GHD patients are resistant to insulin, which is a potential risk factor for cardiovascular mortality. READ MORE

22. Removal and Replacement of Ribosomal Proteins : Effects on Bacterial Fitness and Ribosome Function
Abstract : Protein synthesis is a complex process performed by sophisticated cellular particles known as ribosomes. Although RNA constitutes the major structural and functional component, ribosomes from all kingdoms contain an extensive array of proteins with largely undefined functional roles. READ MORE

23. Cell Replacement Therapy for Parkinson's Disease: Potential for Circuitry Repair
Abstract : The derivation of dopamine neurons from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) now offers a promising alternative to fetal tissue for cell replacement therapy (CRT) in Parkinson´s disease (PD). Using the appropriate chemical cues in vitro, hESCs can be patterned towards bona-fide ventral midbrain (VM) DA neurons that survive, reinnervate, release DA and provide functional recovery when transplanted into rodent and non-human primate models of PD. 24. Cellular replacement therapy for liver disease
Abstract : Liver disease is a major health problem worldwide. The liver performs a wide range of functions, which the human body cannot survive without. The human liver is continuously challenged with infectious organisms, alcohol and chemicals, congenital defects, autoimmunity and malignancy etc. READ MORE

25. Effect of valve replacement for aortic stenosis on ventricular function
Abstract : Background:Aortic stenosis (AS) is the commonest valve disease in the West. Aortic valve replacement (AVR) remains the only available management for AS and results in improved symptoms and recovery of ventricular functions. READ MORE
