16. Methods and Models for Cutting Data Optimization
Abstract : Traditional optimization of cutting processes refers to minimizing cost or minimizing time (minimumcost or maximum production rate). These criteria apply to the cutting speed via well-known equationsfor economic tool life and tool life for maximum production rate. Quite often speed is focused firstwhen after some suitable feed value is chosen. READ MORE

17. Coagulase-negative staphylococci in prosthetic hip infections
Abstract : More than 11,000 primary total hip replacements were performed in Sweden in the year 2000, corresponding to 125 primary total hip replacements per 100,000 inhabitants, according to The Swedish Total Hip Replacement Register. In general, this procedure provides highly satisfactory results. READ MORE

18. Haloacetates in precipitation
Abstract : Haloacetates are a group of fluorinated, chlorinated and brominated organic compounds that pose a potential threat to the environment, because they are present in relatively high concentrations in precipitation and they are toxic to plants. At the time the research described in this thesis was begun, it had been suggested that atmospheric degradation of chlorinated solvents and CFC replacements were responsible for the presence of haloacetates in precipitation in populous regions. 19. Evaluation of methods of measuring wear of polyethylene acetabular components intotal hip arthroplasty
Abstract : Background: The introduction of highly cross-linked, wear resistant polyethylene acetabularcomponents for clinical use in total hip replacements has intensified the interest in and need for highlyaccurate methods of measuring wear from clinical radiographs. There are several methods currentlyavailable for measuring the relative displacement of the femoral head into the acetabular componentresulting from the combination of plastic deformation and wear of the polyethylene bearing surface.
