  1. 1. Coping with Misbehavior in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks

    Author : Sonja Buchegger; Jean-Yves Le Boudec; EPFL; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mobile ad-hoc networks; incentives; cooperation; reputation systems; Bayes; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : n this work, we address the question of how to enable a system to operate despite the presence of misbehavior. Specifically, in a mobile ad-hoc network, how can we keep the network functional for normal nodes when other nodes do not route and forward correctly? Node misbehavior due to selfish or malicious reasons or faulty nodes can significantly degrade the performance of mobile ad-hoc networks. READ MORE

  2. 2. Performance problem diagnosis in cloud infrastructures

    Author : Olumuyiwa Ibidunmoye; Erik Elmroth; Guilliano Casale; Viktoria Fodor; Henrik Björklund; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Systems Performance; Performance anomalies; Performance bottlenecks; Cloud infrastructures; Cloud Computing; Cloud Services; Cloud Computing Performance; Performance problems; Performance anomaly detection; Performance bottleneck identification; Performance Root-cause Analysis; Computer Systems; datorteknik; Computer Science; datalogi;

    Abstract : Cloud datacenters comprise hundreds or thousands of disparate application services, each having stringent performance and availability requirements, sharing a finite set of heterogeneous hardware and software resources. The implication of such complex environment is that the occurrence of performance problems, such as slow application response and unplanned downtimes, has become a norm rather than exception resulting in decreased revenue, damaged reputation, and huge human-effort in diagnosis. 3. 3. Performance anomaly detection and resolution for autonomous clouds

    Author : Olumuyiwa Ibidunmoye; Erik Elmroth; Ewnetu Bayuh Lakew; Rolf Stadler; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cloud Computing; Distributed Systems; Performance Management; Anomaly Detection; Quality of Service; Performance Analytics; Machine Learning; Computer Systems; datorteknik; business data processing; administrativ databehandling; Computer Science; datalogi;

    Abstract : Fundamental properties of cloud computing such as resource sharing and on-demand self-servicing is driving a growing adoption of the cloud for hosting both legacy and new application services. A consequence of this growth is that the increasing scale and complexity of the underlying cloud infrastructure as well as the fluctuating service workloads is inducing performance incidents at a higher frequency than ever before with far-reaching impact on revenue, reliability, and reputation. 4. 4. Self-Service Recovery

    Author : Niklas E. Johansson; Anders G. Nilsson; Bo Edvardsson; Sten Carlsson; Jan Lindvall; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Service recovery; self-service technology; self-service recovery; IT-enabler; value creation; Informatics; Informatik; Information Systems; Informatik; Service recovery SR ; self-service technology SST ; self-service recovery SSR ;

    Abstract : Service recovery is about problems. What happens when customers experience problems? Well, sometimes customers complain to the one responsible for the service. Sometimes customers do not complain but instead tell somebody else about the problem, possibly leading to a bad reputation for the one responsible for the service. READ MORE

  5. 5. Performance in Franchise Systems : The Franchisee Perspective

    Author : Ehsan Asgharian Bourkheili; Hossein Dadfar; Staffan Brege; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Franchising performance; franchisee’s perspective; entrepreneurship; holistic view.;

    Abstract : During the last decades, franchising as an organizational form has received a lot of attention from researchers and practitioners alike. While many studies have examined various aspects of franchising from the franchisor's perspective, little research has taken the franchisee’s perspective. READ MORE
