  1. 1. Co-operative recombination mechanisms promoting gene clustering and lateral transfer of antibacterial drug resistance

    Author : Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Tn5090 Tn402; Mu-like transposons; serine recombinases; res site; integrons; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Pharmaceutical Microbiology; farmaceutisk mikrobiologi;

    Abstract : Transposons of the Mu superfamily are widespread and have been shown to play an important role in the dissemination of antibiotic resistance among microorganisms. One of these elements, Tn5090/Tn402 is the basal vehicle of the type 1 integrons in which mobile resistance gene cassettes are inserted to form clusters and operons. READ MORE

  2. 2. Measuring and modelling parameters from hyperspectral sensors for site-specific crop protection

    Author : Anders Larsolle; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis sought to optimise systems for plant protection in precision agriculture through developing a field method for estimating crop status parameters from hyperspectral sensors, and an empirical model for estimating the required herbicide dose in different parts of the field. The hyperspectral reflectance measurements in the open field took the form of instantaneous spectra recording using an existing method called feature vector based analysis (FVBA), which was applied on disease severity. 3. 3. Effects of stump harvesting and site preparation on mercury mobilization and methylation

    Author : Karin Eklöf; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Mercury (Hg) is an element of major concern in boreal freshwater ecosystems, due to high concentrations of Hg in fish. Forestry operations have been reported to increase the concentrations and loads of Hg to surface waters. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of site preparation and stump harvest on carbon dynamics in forest soils

    Author : Kristina Mjöfors; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Efforts are being made to substitute fossil fuels with renewable alternatives to address increasing concerns regarding global climate change driven by anthropogenic emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. Stumps of harvested trees could make a significant contribution to these efforts in Scandinavia. READ MORE

  5. 5. Building transformative capacities: links between site and plan in post-industrial urban landscapes

    Author : Caroline Dahl; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Transformation of rundown industrial areas into mix-use and dense urban districts has been common practice in urban planning and design since the late 1990s. The discipline and practice of landscape architecture has been specifically engaged in the transformation of such post-industrial sites into large parks and landscapes, with an expanded aesthetic appreciation of the derelict as a result.
