21. Insights into Materials Properties from Ab Initio Theory : Diffusion, Adsorption, Catalysis & Structure
Abstract : In this thesis, density functional theory (DFT) calculations and DFT based ab initio molecular dynamics simulations have been employed in order to gain insights into materials properties like diffusion, adsorption, catalysis, and structure. In transition metals, absorbed hydrogen atoms self-trap due to localization of metal d-electrons. READ MORE

22. Wind Turbine Sound in Cold Climates
Abstract : The increase in the number of wind turbines (WTs) in populated areas in cold climates increases the number of people potentially being affected by WT sound. Outdoor sound propagation is strongly dependent on meteorological conditions, however, limitations in the knowledge exist regarding the implications of meteorological conditions in cold climates. 23. Aberration-Corrected Analytical Electron Microscopy of Transition Metal Nitride and Silicon Nitride Multilayers
Abstract : Two multilayer thin films have been studied: TiN/SiNx and ZrN/SiNx. A double-corrected transmission electron microscope (TEM) was utilized for imaging and spectroscopy. Imaging was carried out in scanning mode (STEM) for all samples. READ MORE

24. The Cooperative Challenge : Farmer Cooperation and the Politics of Agricultural Modernisation in 21st Century Uganda
Abstract : The main purpose of this dissertation is to study whether the official rhetoric on the role that cooperatives could play in the quest for agricultural modernisation in Uganda have any resemblance with how farmers view the benefits and problem with cooperation. This question was motivated by the political initiative in the early 21st century to revive the cooperative movement in Uganda, a movement burdened with a history of political intervention and difficulties to adapt to a de-regulated agricultural market system. 25. Molecular characterisation of major allergens from mite (Lep d 2) and cat (Fel d 1)
Abstract : The prevalence of allergic disease has increased significantly during the last decades and today more than 30% of the Swedish population is affected. By using recombinant allergens, diagnostics and treatment can be improved and the mechanisms of allergic reactions may be further explored. READ MORE
