31. A Broad View on the Interpretation of Electromagnetic Data (VLF, RMT, MT, CSTMT)
Abstract : The resolution power of single Very Low Frequency (VLF) data and multi-frequency Radiomagnetotelluric (RMT) data in delineating conductive structures typical for the sedimentary cover and crystalline basement in Scandinavia is studied with a view to future developments of the technique to increasing the frequency range into the LW radio band. Airborne and ground VLF data are interpreted and correlated with RMT measurements made on the ground to better understand the resolution power of VLF data. READ MORE

32. Controlled Source Radiomagnetotelluric (CSRMT) Applications in Environmental and Resource Exploration
Abstract : An integrated use of radio magnetotelluric (RMT) and controlled source tensor magnetotelluric (CSTMT) measurements, the so-called CSRMT method, has been employed in environmental and resource exploration studies. A number of case histories, including a groundwater investigation in glacial deposits, a study of fracture zones for geotechnical purposes and a mining exploration study of a copper deposit, are presented in this thesis in order to illustrate the usefulness and capability of the CSRMT method. 33. Comparative optics of prosobranch eyes
Abstract : Functional aspects of the large diversity of eye design in prosobranch molluscs was investigated using morphological and optical methods. Three species from different habitats were investigated. Littorina littorea from Scandinavian intertidal rock habitats, Strombus raninus and S. gigas from tropical sand-flats and Ampularia sp. 34. Organocatalytic Acylation for the Kinetic Resolution of Secondary Aryl Alcohols : Synthetic Applications and Mechanistic Studies
Abstract : The research described in this thesis focuses on the catalytic acylative kinetic resolution (KR) of aromatic secondary alcohols, using a planar-chiral 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) organocatalyst. In the first part of this thesis, the substrate scope of the above mentioned process was expanded to aromatic secondary alcohols that contain an extra functional group in the alkyl moiety, such as 1,2-azido alcohols, 2-hydroxy-2-aryl-ethylphosphonates and 2-hydroxy-2-aryl esters. 35. Endogenous and microbial modulators of inflammation
Abstract : Cardiometabolic disease is characterized by dysregulated, chronic inflammation, that may result from impaired resolution pathways or alterations in the gut microbiota. Thus, restoring specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) or intestinal bacteria with immunomodulatory properties represent potential therapeutic strategies for patients. READ MORE
