  1. 6. Resonances in three-body systems

    Author : Muhammad Umair; Svante Jonsell; Michael Odelius; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : Three particles interacting via Coulomb forces represents a fundamental problem in quantum mechanics whose approximate solution provides some insight into the more complex analysis associated with few-body problems. We have investigated resonance states composed of three particles interacting via Coulombic and more general potentials in non-relativistic quantum mechanics, using the complex scaling method. 2. 7. Direct and inverse resonance problems for seismic surface waves

    Author : Samuele Sottile; Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inverse problems; Resonances; Spectral theory; Love waves; Rayleigh waves;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the investigation of direct and inverse resonance results for the Love and the Rayleigh operators, which arise from decoupling the three-dimensional elastic wave equation in the semiclassical limit in the half-space. Direct resonance results in terms of the asymptotic distribution of resonances in the complex plane are obtained for the Love and the Rayleigh operators. READ MORE

  3. 8. Prospects of Observing the Decay B_c -> J/psi + pi and the Alignment Performance in the ATLAS Experiment

    Author : Weina Ji; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Weak modes; Inner Detector alignment; B_c ground state; ATLAS; LHC; Resonances; Fysicumarkivet A:2010:Ji;

    Abstract : This thesis contains two main aspects of my research work towards physics in proton-proton collisions in the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. First, a Monte Carlo based analysis of the event yield and the mass shape for the ground state of the B_c meson in the hadronic decay channel B_c -> J/psi + pi was studied. READ MORE

  4. 9. Exploring the Exotic Experimental Investigations far from Stability

    Author : Karin Markenroth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cross sections; driplines; inbeam spectroscopy; 10; unbound nuclei; 8 B; 11; 17; longitudinal momentum distributions; breakup reactions; projectile fragmentation; resonances; 19 C; elastic resonance scattering; halo nuclei; 13 N;

    Abstract : The exploration of exotic nuclei is one of the most intriguing and fastest expanding fields in modern nuclear physics. In the extreme conditions of unsymmetric neutron-proton distributions and small binding energies many nuclear phenomena not encountered closer to stability have revealed themselves, often as a surprise to the nuclear physics community, the prime example being the development of halo structures as the binding energy diminishes. 5. 10. Dual mass flywheels in truck powertrains, Modelling, simulations and validation

    Author : Lina Wramner; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DMF; simulations; heavy-duty truck; resonances; driveline; dual mass flywheel; powertrain; torsional vibrations; friction;

    Abstract : The heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers face large challenges when it comes to reducing CO2 emissions from vehicles. The on-going development of more efficient combustion engines leads to an increase in torsional vibrations. READ MORE
