  1. 11. Fast dynamics and measurements of single-charge devices

    Author : Fredrik Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; resonator; single-electron box; superconducting devices; decoherence; quantum capacitance; Sisyphus resistance; transmon; single-Cooper-pair box; qubit; rf-reflectometry;

    Abstract : In this thesis we present measurements on several different devices, including the single-Cooper-pair box (SCB), the single-electron box, tunable superconducting resonators and so called transmon qubits.By exploiting the quantum capacitance of the SCB, its state was measured by embedding the box in a radio-frequency resonator. 3. 13. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications

    Author : Kiryl Kustanovich; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IDE; Resonator; SH-SAW; Impedance Spectroscopy; Surface Acoustic Wave; PDMS; LiNbO3; Microfluidics; Sensor;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly. 4. 14. Advanced MEMS Pressure Sensors Operating in Fluids

    Author : Emil Anderås; Ventsislav Yantchev; Ilia Katardjiev; Jörgen Olsson; Enrico Verona; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pressure sensor; piezoresistance; nanofilms; AlN; microacoustic; Lamb wave; thin film; resonator; sensitivity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : Today’s MEMS technology allows manufacturing of miniaturized, low power sensors that sometimes exceeds the performance of conventional sensors. The pressure sensor market today is dominated by MEMS pressure sensors.In this thesis two different pressure sensor techniques are studied. READ MORE

  5. 15. Design, fabrication and characterization of plasmonic components based on silicon nanowire platform

    Author : Fei Lou; Lech Wosinski; Lars Thylén; Sebastian Lourdudoss; Anatoly Zayats; KTH; []
    Keywords : Planar integrated circuit; silicon photonics; plasmonics; subwavelength; directional coupler; polarization beam splitter; disk resonator; ring resonator; finite-difference time-domain; photonic crystal; electro-optic polymer; Purcell factor.;

    Abstract : Optical interconnects based on CMOS compatible photonic integrated circuits are regarded as a promising technique to tackle the issues traditional electronics faces, such as limited bandwidth, latency, vast energy consumption and so on. In recent years, plasmonic integrated components have gained great attentions due to the properties of nano-scale confinement, which may potentially bridge the size mismatch between photonic and electronic circuits.
