  1. 1. Autonomous cloud resource provisioning : accounting, allocation, and performance control

    Author : Ewnetu Bayuh Lakew; Erik Elmroth; Hiaohui (Helen) Gu; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cloud computing; distributed infrastructure; monitoring; accounting; performance modeling; service differentiation; business data processing; administrativ databehandling;

    Abstract : The emergence of large-scale Internet services coupled with the evolution of computing technologies such as distributed systems, parallel computing, utility computing, grid, and virtualization has fueled a movement toward a new resource provisioning paradigm called cloud computing. The main appeal of cloud computing lies in its ability to provide a shared pool of infinitely scalable computing resources for cloud services, which can be quickly provisioned and released on-demand with minimal effort. 2. 2. Energy-efficient cloud computing : autonomic resource provisioning for datacenters

    Author : Selome Kostentinos Tesfatsion; Johan Tordsson; Eddie Wadbro; Erik Elmroth; Laurent Lefevre; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cloud computing; datacenter; energy-efficiency; performance management; virtualization;

    Abstract : Energy efficiency has become an increasingly important concern in data centers because of issues associated with energy consumption, such as capital costs, operating expenses, and environmental impact. While energy loss due to suboptimal use of facilities and non-IT equipment has largely been reduced through the use of best-practice technologies, addressing energy wastage in IT equipment still requires the design and implementation of energy-aware resource management systems. 3. 3. Revenue Maximization in Resource Allocation : Applications in Wireless Communication Networks

    Author : Nilo Casimiro Ericsson; Anders Ahlén; Mikael Sternad; Jens Zander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; wireless; resource; scheduling; revenue; admission control; service level control; service level agreement; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Revenue maximization for network operators is considered as a criterion for resource allocation in wireless cellular networks. A business model encompassing service level agreements between network operators and service providers is presented. READ MORE

  5. 5. Application-aware resource management for datacenters

    Author : Abel Pinto Coelho de Souza; Johan Tordsson; Andreas Hellander; Per-Håkan Lundow; Lili Jiang; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Resource Management; High Performance Computing; Cloud Computing; Computer Science; datalogi;

    Abstract : High Performance Computing (HPC) and Cloud Computing datacenters are extensively used to steer and solve complex problems in science, engineering, and business, such as calculating correlations and making predictions. Already in a single datacenter server, there are thousands of hardware and software metrics – Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – that individually and aggregated can give insight in the performance, robustness, and efficiency of the datacenter and the provisioned applications.
