1. Thermal response tests : influence of convective flow in groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger
Abstract : The main objective of this doctorial thesis was to investigate how thermally induced movements in the groundwater (natural convective flow) may influence the heat transport in borehole and surrounding bedrock in a groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger system. The purpose was also to determine if thermal response tests could be used to detect the convective influence and the effect on evaluated heat transfer parameters, effective bedrock thermal conductivity and borehole thermal resistance. 2. Quantitative analysis of tumor growth and response to therapy
Abstract : Modeling the natural growth of tumors is of value for evaluation of tumor progression and optimization of treatment strategies. However, modeling tumor growth based on clinical data is hampered by the limited data available, since therapy is in general initiated as early as possible after diagnosis. READ MORE

3. Dynamic Characteristics of Floating Breakwaters
Abstract : The dynamic behaviour of interconnected floating breakwaters has been studied theoretically and experimentally. For this type of shore-protection system, problems that must be dealt with include wave loads on the breakwaters caused by the interaction between the bodies and the waves, motions of the moored breakwaters caused by the waves, changed wave fields in front of and behind the breakwaters, and forces on the mooring cables and in interconnections between breakwater units. 4. Analysis of Response and Development of Permanent Deformation of Unbound Granular Materials Using a Testing Box Technique
Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to study the response and development of permanent deformation in unbound granular materials, theoretically and experimentally. A testing box technique is used here to more closely simulate the behaviour of unbound aggregates subjected to external vertical loading. READ MORE

5. Staging and therapy response in rectal cancer
Abstract : Every year, around 2,200 individuals are diagnosed with rectal cancer in Sweden. As a result of better tumour staging using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), pre-operative radiotherapy (with or without chemotherapy), and improved surgery, outcome has improved substantially during the past few decades.
