  1. 1. SiC-FET Gas Sensors Developed for Control of the Flue Gas Desulfurization System in Power Plants Experimental and Modeling : Experimental and Modeling

    Author : Zhafira Darmastuti; Anita Lloyd Spetz; Lars Ojamäe; Niclas Lindqvist; Mike Andersson; Bilge Saruhan-Brings; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SiC-FET sensors; temperature cycle operation; detection mechanism studies; SO2; H2S;

    Abstract : Electricity and power generation is an essential part of our life. However, powergeneration activities also create by-products (such as sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides,carbon monoxide, etc), which can be dangerous when released to the atmosphere. READ MORE

  2. 2. Continuum modeling of paperboard for the mechanical response of converting processes

    Author : Kristofer Robertsson; Hållfasthetslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Paperboard; Continuum modeling; Converting processes; FEM simulations; Finite strain theory; Damage modeling; Rate-dependent; Creasing and folding; Out-of-plane experiments;

    Abstract : Paperboard is a thin and lightweight material made of cellulose fibers and it is an important component in packaging material where it provides stiffness and rigidity. The scope of this work is the development of continuum models, and its numerical treatments, for simulating the processes of converting paperboard into packages. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the role of surface properties for implant fixation : From finite element modeling to in vivo studies

    Author : Patrik Stenlund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Implant stability; Removal torque; Surface roughness; Surface chemistry; Finite element analysis; Experimental; In vivo; Osseointegration; Mechanical loading; Bone regeneration; Biomechanics;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to gain a deeper understanding of the factors contributing to the fixation of bone-anchored implants, especially with regard to surface chemistry, surface topography and implant loading. The methodology used in the thesis ranges from systematic bench studies, computer simulations, experimental in vivo studies, to load cell measurements on patients treated with bone-anchored amputation prostheses. Abstract : Tactile perception is considered an important contributor to the overall consumer experience of a product. However, what physical properties that create the specifics of tactile perception, are still not completely understood. READ MORE

  5. 5. Bayesian Modeling of Conditional Densities

    Author : Feng Li; Mattias Villani; Sylvia Frühwirth-Schnatter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bayesian inference; Density estimation; smooth mixtures; surface regression; copulas; Markov chain Monte Carlo; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis develops models and associated Bayesian inference methods for flexible univariate and multivariate conditional density estimation. The models are flexible in the sense that they can capture widely differing shapes of the data. The estimation methods are specifically designed to achieve flexibility while still avoiding overfitting. READ MORE
