1. Subsystems of the basal ganglia and motor infrastructure
Abstract : The motor nervous system is one of the main systems of the body and is our principle means ofbehavior. Some of the most debilitating and wide spread disorders are motor systempathologies. In particular the basal ganglia are complex networks of the brain that control someaspects of movement in all vertebrates. READ MORE

2. Neural mechanisms for the visual control of spatial orientation and locomotion : electrophysiological and behavioural studies of the supraspinal control of posture and steering in the lamprey central nervous system, with reference to visuo-motor mechanisms
Abstract : Neural mechanisms for the supraspinal control of posture and steering, in particular visuo-motor control and visuo-vestibular interaction in postural control, were investigated, using the lamprey as a model system. Behavioural experiments on intact and chronically lesioned animals, intra- and extracellular recordings in vitro and retrograde staining of neurons with horseradish peroxidase were utilized. 3. Nervous mechanisms of postural control
Abstract : Maintenance of body confguration and orientation in space (postural control) is a vital motor function. A general goal of the present study was to analyze nervous feedback mechanisms for the maintenance of posture during different motor behaviors and with different postural perturbations. READ MORE

4. Neural mechanisms for the control of posture, locomotion and steering : a behavioral, electrophysiological and modeling study in lamprey
Abstract : When animals move around interacting with the environment, the nervous system has to solve several tasks simultaneously in order to produce and control the movements - notably propulsion, posture, balance, and associated movements. Basic motor tasks are controlled by neuronal networks organized into central pattern generators (CPGs) and reflexes, located in the spinal cord and brainstem. READ MORE

5. Vestibular control of body orientation in lamprey
Abstract : Maintenance of body orientation (postural control) is a vital motor function of the brain. The general goal of this project was to understand the organization and operation of neuronal networks responsible for postural control. The lamprey (a lower vertebrate) was used as a model animal.
