  1. 1. Milk Folates: Characterisation and Availability

    Author : Karin Wigertz; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; availability; ileostomy model; in vitro; HPLC; folate-binding protein; Milk; folates; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Abstract : With the ultimate goal to study milk folate bioavailability, a reverse-phase HPLC technique was developed and compared with a radioprotein binding assay. All methods showed similar ranges for folates in cow’s milk, with the variation attributed to seasonal variations and the use of different starter cultures. READ MORE

  2. 2. Exploring beta-mannan acting glycosidase families in hydrolysis and mannosyl transfer

    Author : Simon Birgersson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; glycoside hydrolases; beta-mannanase; Transglycosylation; enzymatic synthesis; Enzyme synergy; enzyme engineering; MALDI-TOF; HPLC; NMR;

    Abstract : The thesis revolves around the study of glycoside hydrolases (GH), specifically GH5 β-mannanases and GH36 α-galactosidase (I-III), as well as a GH130 mannoside phosphorylase (I, IV). These enzymes are investigated for their actions on and conversion of hemicellulosic β-mannan, including food-grade galactomannan and softwood galactoglucomannan, along with manno-oligosaccharides (MOS) derived from such polymers. 3. 3. Studies of Sunscreens: Percutaneous Absorption of Benzophenone-3 and Photostability

    Author : Helena Gonzalez; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : benzophenone-3; dihydroxy benzophenone; sunscreens; UV radiation; reverse-phase HPLC; photostability;

    Abstract : Studies of Sunscreens: Percutaneous Absorption of Benzophenone-3 and Photostability Helena Gonzalez Department of Dermatology and Venereology Institute of Clinical Sciences The Sahlgrenska Academy at Göteborg University Göteborg, Sweden Abstract Aim: To learn more about percutaneous absorption of the photoactive compound benzophenone-3 (BZ-3) and to study the excretion pattern of BZ-3 and its metabolite dihydroxy benzophenone (DHB). We also got the opportunity to develop a reverse-phase HPLC method to analyze BZ-3 and DHB. READ MORE

  4. 4. Surface Sampling and Automated Liquid Membrane Extraction of Fungicides

    Author : Margareta Sandahl; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; natural water analysis; microporous membrane liquid-liquid extraction MMLLE ; supported liquid membrane SLM extraction; Dislodgeable fungicide residues; surface sampling; automated sample preparation for HPLC; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : A number of approaches for fungicide determination are presented. A surface sampling technique is utilised for the determination of fungicide foliar residues on greenhouse surfaces, mainly leaves. The procedure is based on solvation of the fungicides on the leaf surface with ethanol and HPLC analysis. READ MORE

  5. 5. High-performance liquid chromatography for analysis of 32P-postlabeled DNA adducts

    Author : Magnus Zeisig; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : DNA adducts; 32P-postlabeling; HPLC; method development;

    Abstract : The formation of DNA adducts, i.e. the covalent binding of chemicals and chemical groups to DNA, is believed to be an important step in chemical carciogenesis. DNA adducts are usually formed at very low levels which requires very sensitive methods to analyze them. READ MORE
