  1. 1. Iterative and Adaptive PDE Solvers for Shared Memory Architectures

    Author : Henrik Löf; Jarmo Rantakokko; Sverker Holmgren; Erik Hagersten; Mark Bull; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; partial differential equations; iterative methods; finite elements; conjugate gradients; adaptive mesh refinement; multigrid; cc-NUMA; distributed shared memory; OpenMP; page migration; TLB shoot-down; bandwidth minimization; reverse Cuthill-McKee; migrate-on-next-touch; affinity; temporal locality; chip multiprocessors; CMP; Beräkningsvetenskap; Scientific Computing;

    Abstract : Scientific computing is used frequently in an increasing number of disciplines to accelerate scientific discovery. Many such computing problems involve the numerical solution of partial differential equations (PDE). READ MORE

  2. 2. Modelling air―water flows in bottom outlets of dams

    Author : Ting Liu; James Yang; Anders Wörman; Michael Pfister; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Air pocket; Air entrainment; Bottom outlet; Critical velocity; Critical submergence; CFD; Experiment; Vortex; PIV; Two-phase air―water flow; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : If air is entrained in a bottom outlet of a dam in an uncontrolled way, the resulting air pockets may cause problems such as blowback, blowout and loss of discharge capacity. In order to provide guidance for bottom outlet design and operation, this study examines how governing parameters affect air entrainment, air-pocket transport and de-aeration and the surrounding flow structure in pipe flows. 3. 3. Three Studies on Model Transformations - Parsing, Generation and Ease of Use

    Author : Håkan Burden; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : ABSTRACT Transformations play an important part in both software development and the automatic processing of natural languages. We present three publications rooted in the multi-disciplinary research of Language Technology and Software Engineering and relate their contribution to the literature on syntactical transformations.
