  1. 21. Effect of hydration on thermodynamic, rheological and structural properties of mucin

    Author : Yana Znamenskaya; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : mucous gel; mucus; mucin; PGM; BSM; BSM chitosan multilayers; hydration; water sorption isotherm; relative humidity; water activity; bound water; enthalpy of hydration of biopolymer; glass transition; rheology; phase diagram; fiber-like structure; dumbbell-like structure; sorption calorimetry; DSC; QCM-D; SAXS; AFM;

    Abstract : Mucus, an adherent hydrated layer covering the epithelium, is found in all internal tracts of the body and plays an important role in animal and human life. One of the essential functions of mucus is protection of tissues against dehydration. READ MORE

  2. 22. Associative Polymer-Polymer and Polymer-Surfactant Systems: Phase Behaviour and the Influence of Chemical Reactions

    Author : Salome Santos; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Aqueous mixtures of two non-ionic polymers, poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and the amphiphilic triblock copolymer, (EO)27(PO)67(EO)27, known by its trade name Pluronic® P104, showed an associative phase separation (miscibility gap), which decreased with the decrease of PAA length. It was found that PAA is a much less selective “solvent” to P104 molecules than water. READ MORE

  3. 23. Analysis of the time and humidity-dependent mechanical behaviour of paper webs at offset printing preess conditions

    Author : Jan Lif; KTH; []
    Keywords : creep; deformation; dynamic test; ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the time, frequency andhumidity-dependent mechanical behaviour of paper webs at offsetprinting press conditions. How the paper web, the set-up andrunning conditions alter press performance is not fullyunderstood, and are difficult to isolate and investigateexperimentally. READ MORE

  4. 24. In-line rheology of cement grouts - Feasibility study of an ultrasound based non-invasive method

    Author : Mashuqur Rahman; Stefan Larsson; Ulf Håkansson; Thomar Dalmalm; Lars-O Ericsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur;

    Abstract : Grouting is used in underground construction to reduce the water flow into tunnels and caverns and to limit the lowering of the surrounding groundwater table. Due to their wide availability and low cost relative to other materials, cement based materials are commonly used as grouts and, in this context, the rheology of the cement grout is an important factor. 5. 25. Strain rate dependent material model for polymer composites

    Author : Vivekendra Singh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; strain rate; finite element; viscoelasticity; viscoplasticity; continuum damage; unidirectional composites;

    Abstract : We propose a micromechanical model that is able to predict the nonlinear behaviour and failure of unidirectional fibre reinforced polymer composites subjected to dynamic loading conditions. This novel material model is heterogeneous on the micro level and homogeneous on the ply level. READ MORE
