  1. 21. Grouting of Fractured Rock with Silica Sol; Grouting design based on penetration length

    Author : Johan Funehag; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Grouting; hydraulic test; sand column; propagation; penetration length; pipe flow; aperture; transmissivity; colloidal silica; silica sol; rheology; gelling liquids; field study;

    Abstract : ABSTRACTRecent grouting projects in Sweden have concentrated on the grout itself. The only grout normally used in Sweden is cement-based. During the past 10 years, the acceptable flow of water into tunnels has been reduced significantly. The current requirements mean that an average fracture aperture of around 0. READ MORE

  2. 22. Structure design for perception of sweetness in food gels

    Author : Karin Holm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion; pectin; texture; gelatin; gels; sensory analysis; rheology; sweetness;

    Abstract : The production of foods with reduced sugar contents is desired and asked for. However, when reducing the sugar concentration, sweetness and structure and texture properties are altered. There is thus a need for a deeper understanding of the complex relations between a food’s structure, texture and taste. READ MORE

  3. 23. Association Phenomena in Aqueous Solutions of Surfactants and Hydrophobically Modified Polymers

    Author : Susanne Nilsson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-diffusion; rheology; cellulose ethers; associating polymers; polymer-surfactant interactions; polymer network; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry;

    Abstract : Interactions between ionic surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) and nonionic polymers ((hydroxyethyl)cellulose, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and their hydrophobically modified analogous) have been studied by means of rheology, pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR), time-resolved fluorescence quenching (TRFQ), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). In all experiments surfactants have been added in various amounts to polymer solutions at fixed concentrations. READ MORE

  4. 24. Grouting of Hard Rock with Gelling Liquids, Field and Laboratory Studies of Silica sol

    Author : Johan Funehag; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Recent grouting projects in Sweden have concentrated on the grout itself. The only grout normally used in Sweden is a cement-based one. During the past 10 years, the acceptable flow of water into tunnels has been significantly reduced. The current requirements mean that an average fracture aperture of around 0. READ MORE

  5. 25. Rheological modeling of particle flows in high shear granulation

    Author : Mohammad Khalilitehrani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; continuum modeling; rheology; disc impeller; high shear granulation;

    Abstract : High shear granulation is an important process in a wide variety of applications, more specifically in pharmaceutical industries as a basic step in the tableting process. The process includes two major steps: dry high shear granulation and wet high shear granulation. It aims at producing granules with a specific size and material composition. READ MORE
