6. Nonlinear rheological characterization of cellulose nanocrystals based systems
Abstract : In this thesis, cellulose nanocrystals based systems were investigated using advanced rheological characterization techniques, with a particular focus on nonlinear material response functions and Rheo-PLI (Polarized Light Imaging). Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) show enormous potential for many applications, either as material on its own or as renewable reinforcement in polymers. READ MORE

7. Blood Flow variations in Large Arteries due to non-Newtonian rheology
Abstract : The blood is a complex fluid that contains, in addition to water, cells, macro-molecules and a large number of smaller molecules. The physical properties of the blood are therefore the result of non-linear interactions of its constituents, which are influenced by the local flow field conditions. READ MORE

8. Exploring the role of rheology in bolus flow using an in-vitro approach
Abstract : Swallowing disorders, termed ‘dysphagia’, are more common in the elderly but can also affect younger persons. Approximately, 8% of the world’s population suffers from dysphagia. A Texture Modified Diet (TMD), which increases bolus viscosity to adjust for the sluggish bolus handling mechanism, is the most common intervention. READ MORE

9. Rheology of Wheat Flour Doughs at Large Deformations and the Relation to Baking Quality and Physical Structure
Abstract : The effects on dough rheology at large deformations in elongational flow and shear flow have been studied. The results are related to bread making quality in terms of bread volume and to the physical structure of the dough. A new method for evaluation of an instrumented mixograph is reported. READ MORE

10. Water-based hydraulic fluids : rheology and elastohydrodynamic lubrication
Abstract : Experiments have been carried out to measure traction, antiwear and rheological properties of water-based hydraulic fluids. Four types of fluids have been examined, emulsions, micro-emulsions, synthetic solutions and water-glycols. READ MORE
