  1. 16. Nucleic Acids as Drug Targets -Interactions of Platinum Complexes, Polyamines, and siRNA with DNA and RNA Models

    Author : Margareta Hägerlöf; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kinetics; Kemi; Chemistry; AU-rich region; siRNA; Circular Dichroism; Polyamine; Modified Nucleoside; HPLC; Thermodynamic Stability; cisplatin; Hairpin; DNA and RNA conformation; RNA; DNA; Anticancer Drug; Platinum Complexes;

    Abstract : Drugs targeting nucleic acids were studied in DNA and RNA model systems. The effects were investigated with respect to structural and thermodynamic influence, kinetics, and biological function. The drugs employed in this thesis were anticancer active platinum(II) complexes, polyamine derivatives, and siRNA. READ MORE

  2. 17. Peptide nucleic acid conjugates as artificial ribonucleases : Cu2+ and Zn2+-dependent PNAzymes

    Author : Olivia Luige; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Synthetic modified oligonucleotides are gaining momentum as powerful therapeutic tools used in the treatment of life-threatening diseases. Degradation of disease-related RNA sequences is one of the goals achieved with oligonucleotide therapeutics, albeit the currently available technologies rely on the recruitment of endogenous enzymes, RNase H or RISC, limiting the chemical architecture of oligonucleotide drugs. 3. 18. Fault Injection for Studying Error Behavior and Validation of Error Detecting Mechanisms

    Author : Marcus Rimén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; concurrent error detection; functional error model; control flow error; error detection coverage; permanent faults; data error; error detection latency; simulation-based fault injection; transient faults; physical fault injection; dependability evaluation;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design and validation of low-cost error detecting mechanisms that can be used to implement self-checking computers. The research objectives of the thesis are three-fold: (i) to investigate and develop a simulation-based fault injection technique that can be used on a wide range of VHDL simulation models, (ii) to investigate error propagation mechanisms in microprocessors in order to understand how to design low-cost error detecting mechanisms and (iii) to design and validate error detecting mechanisms. 4. 19. Signs and implications of ischemia in unstable coronary artery disease

    Author : Ingvar Nyman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Signs and implications of ischemia in ECG at rest and at a predischarge exercise test (ET), were assessed in 911 patients with suspected or definite unstable coronary artery disease (CAD) - i.e. unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction (MI). READ MORE
