  1. 6. Systemic RNAi Relies on the Endomembrane System in Caenorhabditis elegans

    Author : Yani Zhao; Andrea Hinas; Staffan Svärd; Simon Tuck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systemic RNAi; RNAi inheritance; late endosomes MVBs; SID-5; SEC-22; SYX-6; C12D8.1; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : The membrane system of a eukaryotic cell is a large and complex system handling the transport, exchange and degradation of many kinds of material. Recent research shows that double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) mediated gene silencing (RNA interference) is a membrane related process. READ MORE

  2. 7. Little strokes fell great oaks : small RNA in potato and Phytophthora infestans interactions

    Author : Kristian Persson Hodén; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Small RNAs (sRNAs) are non-coding RNAs of approximately 20-30 nucleotides in length. sRNAs bind to Argonaute proteins (AGOs) an integrated partner of the RISC complex. sRNAs act as templates for RISC to recognize complementary mRNA transcripts which can be cleaved by AGOs and thereby cause gene inactivity. 3. 8. Adenoviral small non-coding RNAs : A Structural and Functional Charaterization

    Author : Wael Kamel; Göran Akusjärvi; Ben Berkhout; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : non-coding RNA miRNA mivaRNA canonical Dicer Ago2 TSS m7G Cap Adenovirus replication E2B;

    Abstract : Since their discovery in 1953, adenoviruses have significantly contributed to the understanding of virus-host cell interactions, including mechanistic details of cellular processes such as cell cycle control and alternative RNA splicing. Among the first characterized adenoviral genes were the virus-associated RNAs (VA RNAI/II), which are produced in massive amount during a lytic infection. READ MORE

  4. 9. NoGAP: Novel Generator of Accelerators and Processors

    Author : Per Axel Karlström; Dake Liu; Peter Marwedel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ADL; ESL; Processor; Accelerator; Compiler; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik; Computer engineering; Datorteknik;

    Abstract : ASIPs are needed to handle the future demand of flexible yet highperformance embedded computing. The flexibility of ASIPs makes them preferable over fixed function ASICs. Also, a well designed ASIP, has a power consumption comparable to ASICs.  However the cost associated with ASIP design is a limiting factor for a more wide spread adoption. READ MORE

  5. 10. A small amoeba at the crossroads of the big RNAi world : MicroRNA biogenesis and Argonaute function in Dictyostelium discoideum

    Author : Zhen Liao; Fredrik Söderbom; Gerhart E. H. Wagner; Christina Dixelius; Kriton Kalantidis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNAi; microRNA; Argonaute protein; miRNA biogenesis; Dictyostelium discoideum; social amoeba; Dicer; development; growth; Biology with specialization in Molecular Cell Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Small non-coding RNA (ncRNA) mediated gene silencing, known as RNAi, is a key regulatory mechanism of gene expression in eukaryotes. MicroRNAs (miRNA), one major type of small ncRNAs, are about 21nt long and bound by Argonaute proteins. READ MORE
