  1. 1. Assembly of the Caledonian Orogenic Wedge, Jämtland, Sweden

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Geological Sciences, Stockholm University

    Author : Hagen Bender; Stockholms universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; collisional orogeny; Scandinavian Caledonides; Seve Nappe Complex; Köli Nappe Complex; in-sequence thrusting; out-of-sequence thrusting; imbrication; nappe stacking; orogenic wedge assembly; Rb–Sr geochronology; rock magnetism; anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : Collisional orogeny creates the largest mountain belts on Earth. The Caledonides of Scandinavia are a deeply eroded, ancient mountain belt, which today exposes a deep section through the former orogenic interior. READ MORE

  3. 3. Research in rock magnetism and palaeomagnetism of recent sediments and palaeozoic to tertiary rocks in Thailand

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Tribop Bhongsuwan; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geophysics; Tillämpad geofysik;

    Abstract : Rock magnetic and palaeomagnetic studies have been performed on sediments and Palaeozoic to Tertiary rocks in Thailand. The first part of the thesis includes an environmantal study based on the magnetic properties of recent sediments in one of southern Thailands largest water reservoirs, the Songkla Lake. READ MORE

  4. 4. Nanomagnetic and Micromagnetic Properties of Rocks Minerals and Sulphide Oxidation Products

    University dissertation from Department of Geology, Lund University

    Author : Erik Eneroth; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; physical geography; Geology; multi-domain; single-domain; ilmenite; magnetite; maghemite; hematite; pyrite; marcasite; fysisk geografi; Geologi;

    Abstract : Magnetic and related properties of rocks and products from oxidation of sulphide minerals have been investigated with magnetisation measurements (rocks and oxidation products), magnetic force microscopy (rocks), scanning electron microscopy (rocks and oxidation products), transmission electron microscopy (oxidation products), Mössbauer spectroscopy (oxidation products) and powder X-ray diffraction (oxidation products). The investigations have shown the following: During thermal oxidation of pyrite (cubic FeS2) and marcasite (orthorombic FeS2) in air, nano-crystals of a-Fe2O3 and g-Fe2O3 were formed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Magnetic properties of Neogene regional dikes from east Iceland with special reference to magma flow

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Per Eriksson; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Natural sciences - Earth sciences; Naturvetenskap - Geovetenskap; Tillämpad geofysik; Applied Geophysics;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with rock magnetic measurements on Neogene dikes from the eastern fjords of Iceland. A vast amount of dikes generally striking north-north-east occur as swarms in the glacially eroded lava pile. READ MORE
