  1. 1. Water Fluxes and Cell Migration : How Aquaporin 9 Controls Cell Shape and Motility

    Author : Thommie Karlsson; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Roger Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Prerequisites for all modes of cell migration are cell-substratum interactions that require a sophisticated interplay of membrane dynamics and cytoskeletal rearrangement. Generally, a migrating cell is polarized with a distinct rear and front, from which it extends a wide and thin membrane protrusion- lamellipodium, small fingerlike projections- filopodia, and membrane blisters- blebs. 2. 2. Environmental levels of thallium : influence of redox properties and anthropogenic sources

    Author : Ulrika Karlsson; Stefan Karlsson; Anders Düker; Roger Herbert; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thallium; Tl I ; Tl III ; separation; ion chromatography; fresh water; sediment; mine waste; fly ash; redistribution; ICP-MS; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Thallium is a highly toxic element that humans are exposed to mainly by consumption of drinking water and vegetables grown in soil with high thallium content but also through inhalation of particles in the air. Thallium is also present in fossil fuels, alloys, and in electronic utilities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cell motility : the organization of the microfilament system in cultured cells with special emphasis on the cortical weave of actin filaments

    Author : Roger Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The microfilament system formed by actin, myosin and associated proteins constitutes the molecular basis for many of the motile phenomena which eukaryotic cells express. The organization of this system varies considerably from cell type to cell type, and is characterized on one hand by strictly ordered, more or less flexible arrangements of actin filaments and on the other by actin present in primarily a nonfilamentous form ready to polymerize in response to certain stimuli. 4. 4. Reflective-functioning during the process and in relation to outcome in cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy and brief psychodynamic

    Author : Roger Karlsson; Bengt-Åke Armelius; Rolf Sandell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Mental processes; Reflective-functioning; Cognitive-behavioral therapy; Interpersonal Psychotherapy; Psychodynamic Psychotherapy; Psychotherapy Process Q-set; PQS; TDCRP; Psychotherapy outcome; Personality; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : The objective of this work was to investigate reflective-functioning (RF) as a measure of process in two independent studies that included three types of brief psychotherapy. RF is defined as the ability to recognize the existence and nature of mental processes taking place in the self and in others (e.g., intentions, beliefs, desires, and wishes). READ MORE

  5. 5. Interference with biological rhythm : a novel approach to metabolic disorders in women

    Author : Roger Karlsson; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Women seem to be largely protected against certain ‘welfare disorders’ such as cardiovacular disease and osteoporosis, during their fertile years.The metabolic changes observed during women’s non-menstrual states, i.e. READ MORE
