6. On bacteria Persisting Root Canal Treament. Identification and potential mechanisms of resistance to antimicrobial measures
Abstract : Anti-microbial treatment of infected root canals using mechanical instrumentation and chemicals for disinfection does not always lead to complete bacterial elimination and treatment failure may therefore result. As certain bacteria appear more resilient to endodontic treatment than others, the present thesis addresses the species that can most frequently be isolated after treatment and explores mechanisms, which could potentially afford these organisms resistance to anti-microbial treatment measures. 7. Anatomical and physiological aspects of anorectal dysfunction
Abstract : Objective: To analyse the results of anal-sphincter repair; to examine the feasibility of motor latency measurements of the anal sphincter after magnetic sacral stimulation in healthy subjects, patients with a spinal cord injury and patients with faecal incontinence, using a new recording technique; to study, in the same 3 groups, the effects ofphasic magnetic sacral root stimulation on the anal sphincter and rectum; to describe normal, undisturbed anatomy of the anal canal and perianal structures in both men and nulliparous women using high-resolution phased array magnetic resonance imaging; to study pelvic floor movements in healthy volunteers of both sexes using a new instrument. Methods: Latencies were recorded with an intraanal, bipolar sponge electrode and an intrarectal ground electrode. 8. Evaluation of Modern Irrigation Techniques with Brackish Water
Abstract : Modern irrigation techniques are becoming increasingly important in water-scarce countries especially in arid and semiarid regions. Higher crop production and better water use efficiency are usually achieved by drip irrigation as compared to other irrigation methods. READ MORE

9. Bone tissue regeneration indento-alveolar surgery : clinical and experimental studies on biomaterials and bone graft substitutes
Abstract : Pathological processes in the alveolar and facial bones can lead to bone loss that may not heal with complete regeneration. Biomaterials can be used to facilitate the healing process and/or as a bone substitute, but the mechanisms are not fully understood. READ MORE

10. Factors associated with healing of periradicular lesions
Abstract : Healing of periradicular lesions is a complex process. This thesis addressed some factors of importance to the outcome, namely treatment options and host response in cases of refractory lesions, levels of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the inflammatory lesions and the response of the cytokines to preoperative administration of antibiotics.
