1. The Dynamical Spin Vector Evolution of the Asteroids
Abstract : The dynamical evolution of the spin axis direction due to gravitational and thermal factors is examined. It is found that the spin axis variations generally are regular and relatively small for the bodies in the asteroid main belt. There are also reasons to believe that this is the case for minor objects beyond the main belt. READ MORE

2. Numerical simulation of the dynamics of a trapped molecular ion
Abstract : This thesis explores the dynamics of a heteronuclear diatomic molecular ion, possessing a permanent electric dipole moment, µ, which is trapped in a linear Paul trap and can interact with an off-resonance laser field. To build our model we use the rigid-rotor approximation, where the dynamics of the molecular ion are limited to its translational and rotational motions of the center-of-mass. READ MORE

3. Optimizing Enzyme Immobilization in Mesoporous Silica - A Spectroscopic Study of the Dynamics and Spatial Distribution of the Confined Enzymes
Abstract : Enzymes as biological catalysts are immobilized in porous materials to improve the enzyme activity and simplify their purification from the reaction media in biocatalytic applications. Mesoporous silica (MPS) particles are used as a promising support material for the immobilization of enzymes. READ MORE

4. Angular dynamics of small particles in fluids
Abstract : This thesis concerns the angular motion of small particles suspended in fluid flows. A small particle experiences a hydrodynamic torque due to the local fluid velocity, and this torque leads to rotational motion. When inertial effects are negligible the torque on an ellipsoidal particle is given by Jeffery's theory [Jeffery, G. B. READ MORE

5. Nonlinear dynamics of strongly-bound magnetic vortex pairs
Abstract : This work is a study of nonlinear phenomena in vertically stacked pairs of magnetic vortices. New dynamic regimes are uncovered with a decrease in the inter-vortex separation to below the lateral vortex-core size. READ MORE
