  1. 1. Microsystems Technology for Underwater Vehicle Applications

    Author : Jonas Jonsson; Greger Thornell; Hugo Nguyen; Johan Köhler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Aquatic; Submersible; Underwater; Micro; Miniaturized; Sonar; Sidescan; Topography; Laser; Diffractive; Optics; Sampler; Particle; Microorganism; Acoustic; Enriching; Conductivity; Temperature; Depth; CTD; Flow; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work has been to investigate how miniaturization, such as microsystems technology, can potentially increase the scientific throughput in exploration of hard-to-reach underwater environments, such as the subglacial lakes of Antarctica, or other challenging environments, including cave systems and wrecks. A number of instruments and subsystems applicable to miniature submersibles have been developed and studied, and their potential to provide a high functionality density for size-restricted exploration platforms has been assessed. 2. 2. Semipermeable membrane devices as integrative tools for monitoring nonpolar aromatic compounds in air

    Author : Hanna Söderström; Mats Tysklind; Per-Anders Bergqvist; Jochen F. Muller; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; air pollution; alkyl-PAHs; atmosphere; bioavailability; boundary layer; diffusive sampling; emissions; integrative; membrane; monitoring; nitro-PAHs; PAHs; particles; passive samplers; PCBs; plants; PRCs; release rate; sampler design; sources; SPMDs; traffic; uptake rate; wind effect; wood burning; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Air pollutants pose a high risk for humans, and the environment, and this pollution is one of the major environmental problems facing modern society. Active air sampling is the technique that has been traditionally used to monitor nonpolar aromatic air pollutants. READ MORE

  3. 3. On risk-coherent input design and Bayesian methods for nonlinear system identification

    Author : Patricio E. Valenzuela Pacheco; Cristian Rojas; Daniel Rivera; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; System identification; input design; Bayesian methods; nonlinear models; risk theory; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : System identification deals with the estimation of mathematical models from experimental data. As mathematical models are built for specific purposes, ensuring that the estimated model represents the system with sufficient accuracy is a relevant aspect in system identification. READ MORE

  4. 4. Fixed structure LQ design with applications

    Author : Torbjörn Norlander; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reglerteknik; Control Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis deals mainly with the problem of designing structure constrained controllers (or fixed structure control design) which is a problem that occurs in many industrial control applications. In process industry for example, almost all control loops are closed with commercial PI controllers (which have specified structures). READ MORE

  5. 5. On PLL Modeling and Design in Nanometer‐Scale CMOS

    Author : Anders Jakobsson; Shaofang Gong; Adriana Serban; Hannu Tenhunen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Phase-locked loop; Frequency synthesizer; Calibration; Modelling; Quantized-state system; Phase interpolator; Sub-sampling PLL;

    Abstract : Integrated circuits play a vital role in our everyday lives, from wireless gadgets and multimedia players to sensors and processors that control vital infrastructure. Since most electronic circuits need a clean, stable clock or carrier to function, one of the most important components of integrated circuits is the phase-locked loop. READ MORE
